Reading have the 3rd top scorer in the division.

QPR have the 4th top scorer in the division.

Both clubs are underachieving and sacked their manager. We have no definitive goalscorer and are top.

Sometimes the "need for a goalscorer" is over-exaggerated.

Blackman hasn't scored in 7 games, and the slide down the table has coincided with that. He was never a prolific goalscorer before and seemed to have hit a purple patch.

We seem fortunate that we have individual players that are stringing runs of goals together, Kaz at the start and recently Bob and Solly.

Can't rely on one player to score all the goals......

What? What are you talking about winning all remaining games for? If Reading won all their remaining games they'd finish as champions on 108 points.

You said 'They will get to the play off with a new manager as they are only 1 win away.' - if you meant that you think they will finish in the playoffs, then they are 3 points behind, having played a game more. Not as simple as '1 win away'.

That is possible of any team so it is stupid argument to put forward realistically they only have to win 1 game more than the 3 teams above them, to make the play off and all 4 will be playing each other so all cant get maximum points, so it is very feasible they could make a late run as they did the last time they went up I think. Their aim will be to beat the 3 teams above them at least then it is in their own hands

Our success is down to controlling the midfield for long periods of the match and keeping teams penned in which in turn causes our defence less problems and subsequently conceding fewer goals

No one is going to be getting maximum points, or anywhere close to maximum.

They don't need to make a late runt to make the playoffs, they're well in contention. I'd say all teams other than Bolton are still within range of the playoffs, since there's so far to go.

Both clubs clubs will expect much better things from their next managers and a push for the play offs. Even more reason why we should strengthen further with goal scorer as the season and competition intensifies.

Serves him right; prostituting himself in public for all to see. Reading are a tin pot club, always were and always will be. Fulham not much better although they do live in a lovely converted garden shed on the side of a very nice river.

That would be the Fulham who had 13 consecutive seasons in the Premier League, have spent 25 seasons in total in the top flight, and reached the Europa League Final in 2010.

If they're a "tinpot club", then I dunno where that leaves us.

Nothing to do with entitlement. It was the performance rather than the result last night that was the telling blow, the players were not interested and haven't wanted to play for the manager since his public talks with Fulham (by the way, a job he was ready to take until he went back with bonus demands which were turned down, so he decided "Reading was the best club for him at this time"), the fans had turned on him too. His position was untenable and a couple of bad results were enough.

Admittedly it was a bit of a cheap shot - you were on a good run a couple of months ago that took you into the playoff places, so sacking the manager after 1 win in 8 or whatever it is suggests that expectations are a bit high in a close division like this one. But clearly - and we know this to our cost, as other posters have mentioned - if your manager's off talking to other clubs it can probably only end one way.

Crikey! That is a bit of a shocker as the fans loved him up until a few weeks ago.

They had that great run that made them look like world beaters and proved he can get the bets out of him. Very bizarre to sack him so soon

Sensible time to sack a manager as he can bring in the players he wants in January to make a late run for promotion and enough time between now and January to look at his squad and decide on replacements.

That worked out for them well last year
