Reading - guess the package

According to the Argus exclusive today SC is not too excited by the Reading package.

What do you reckon it is?

From what I've read it appears Madjeski has stipulated that the new manager will have to work with the current backroom staff, and the current squad with no funds for new players. No different to here except quite a few of our players were brought in by SC and he obviously gets on with the backroom staff.

From what I've heard of SC he's not overly motivated by money. I could be wrong of course but presuming he's been offered a fair bit more money than he gets here what's the delay in making a decision?

Of course he gets a spanking new Stadium, half full of mostly plastic fans and all the facilities that go with it. He also gets a meglomaniac as a Chairman.

We all presume he's going but just maybe all the above doesn't rock SC's boat and as the future here could well be rosier, he could decide to stay

More straw clutching or does this make sense?

Dunno mate, the silence is deafening, the only one who knows what's going on is Coppell.

16,000 in 24,000 is not half full, Icy ;)

The package is almost definitely a preliminary package similar to the one that Pardew accepted (and didn't like, so went to West Ham).

Medium wage
High performance/promotion bonuses.

If SC doesn't quite like that idea, and wants a higher actual salary, then Madejski will re-arrange it accordingly depending on his demands. Mr Mad is known to be tight, and the initial offer will not be great, but will be very much negotiable.

It depends also how adventurous Coppell wants to be, whether he actually wants the pressure of getting RFC to the Premiership and keeping them there. Its a tall order and would test the character of the man.

Not sure about that. There is a hell of a lot of expectation at this club too. Similar pressure exists and we are expecting promotion as much/more than the royals should be this year.

200k basic (that's fact!!!) Pardew's broker told me that... Pardew was on around 150k. From my understanding no formal offer has been made to Coppell.

I think he has been offered:

£100 per week Asda vouchers.
Council flat in Tilehurst.
Tin of Campbells Condensed tomato soup and an orange plus..
a signed photo of Madjeski himself for this office wall.

the Express this morning suggests he will be given £4 million to spend on players.

Where are Reading getting £4 million from, they never gave Pardew-Tosser that much!

£4 million my arse, Coppell wouldn't know what to do with it (the money, not my arse).

Saw that too. We gave £4m to Tommy Burns once, and he managed to get us to a different division, but in completely the wrong direction

If he takes over, then he'll probably get about £1m+ but not much more. Madejski doesn't bankroll the club anymore, it runs itself off profits...

I imagine Coppell will have relatively high demands to make sure that any performance-related bonus can be achieved on his part. i.e. The need for enough money to get in players to get us to the Premiership, and hence get him that bonus...

We have indeed. Namely £5m worth of profits from the hotel and conferencing centre attached to the ground. Turnover this year was around £16m... with £5.3 (ish)m worth of profit in total.

Most of the £5m goes towards paying off the ground (JM's debentures for it), and the rest goes on transfers. Should have about £1m left.

Funny rearly as madjeski states he wants to get in the premiership yet doesn't want to pay much mmmm.

Low wages and a lot of pressure is it rearly worth it i ask and im sure he must be wondering.

There is a lot for him to stay for as he is happy and gets on brill with the players and is suited to our club.

Reading need a fat cat with a suit on while giving orders.:lolol:

Maybe a nice council house in whitley will do copps:lol:
