[Football] Reading deducted 6 points

Yeah - not quite sure why Bournemouth just got a fine and no points,

"Bournemouth will have to pay a fine of £7.6m after they broke Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules on their way to securing promotion to the Premier League last season.

Clubs are allowed a 'maximum deviation' of £6m per season without punishment under the FFP agreement but the Cherries posted a £38.3m loss in 2014/15 as they won the Sky Bet Championship."

Easy to pay a fine like that upon going up to the Prem.

Think it is outside of the EFLs power to deduct points from PL teams

You should see what they post about me on there.

I've actually tried to help them behind the scenes and was in dialogue and providing support for their defence team when they were formally charged prior to going into administration.
Yea I have read it. They need someone to blame, and i think their anger is directed at the wrong person.

You did get a bit of support, that backed up your creds, something about writing the accountancy exam paper. [emoji846]

Is it just me, or is laughing at other clubs being deducted points etc a bit out of order? I remember when we were in big trouble financially before our Tone came and rescued us, and many fans of other clubs joined us in solidarity

There are other clubs that see us as beneficiaries of TB's generosity and argue that we also broke FFP rules.

I always quite liked Derby and Reading awaydays, and in general found their fans OK

Of all the Amex era matches I've been to I've found Reading fans some of the worse morons to visit us (Palarse scum excluded). Anything to make those aggressive divs unhappy is fine by me.

Depends what the points deduction is for, shirley? Cheating FFP? Hmm....

Other clubs complaining about Bloom is simply sour grapes. We absolutely did not break FFP rules so it's not helpful or wise to repeat the slander.

And I know it isn't a popular view on here but any points deduction any club gets for a pitch invasion isn't exactly a cause célèbre, either

They may argue that we broke FFP Rules, but we didn't, Yes we are beneficiaries of TB, but he has not broken any FFP rules, nor has the club (AFAIK) nor have they used any dodgy tactics to get round FFP rules.

The same can not be said of Reading nor Derby (or Leicester) so I am quite happy to see them suffer the consequences of cheating

Plenty of clubs benefit from having wealthy owners but they, like us, abide by the rules.

I can understand some people feeling sorry for the fans as it really isn't their fault, but not the clubs, nor the owners who try to cheat their way to the Premier League.

Not only have we not cheated FFP but we never cheated creditors by going into administration.

On taking delight in other clubs' difficulties, I'm generally against it, but I reserve the right to make some exceptions. One is obviously P*rtsm**th, whose supporters refused to believe their owners [the wanted gun-runner and then the imaginary Saudi] weren't lifelong fans with their club's best interests at heart, never complained and were utterly uninterested in finding out the truth. #twats

The other is Reading, for a section of their fanbase who had shown no interest in their club at all before it reached the Premier League and would probably have supported Thames Valley Royals if Maxwell had delivered top-division football. The brand new scarves and empty blue seats at that dreary stadium tell their own stories. I exclude a number of Reading-supporting friends who get dewy-eyed at the memory of Elm Park, Robin Friday, Percy Freeman at al, and to whom the club will always be The Biscuitmen and never, ever, the Royals.

It's just you.

Brighton were in financial trouble, albeit caused by overspending in the first division days (And the missing FA cup money of course) but the real problems came with the owners trying to make money by selling the Goldstone and keeping the proceeds.
These other clubs have knowingly broken the rules and gambled on promotion to the PL to resolve the issue.
If we had broken FFP rules, I am sure we would have been dealt with in the same way.

It's a 6 point deduction, which worst case, will get them relegated to League One.. They are not in danger of going out of business.

Plus, it's Reading.. :lolol:

Brilliant stewarding from the fella who firstly, points out the Brighton score on the big screen to the idiotic Reading pitch invaders and then secondly, points out the laughing and cheering Burnley fans.

I have nothing against Reading in particular, but that video is always worth watching again - you spot something new each time

On 1.21 look out for the woman who I reckon has just found out the Brighton score and is scuttling the hell out of there to save face before everyone else realises.

I'm with you on this ... apart from that I do have a low level distaste for both Derby and Reading.

But your general point stands.

We're lucky to have a highly competent and extremely generous owner. It wasn't always the case. Other clubs have been afflicted with poor owners, this is hardly the fault of the fan base.

I'd invite anyone having a pop to consider where the Albion would be in a counter factual world where Tony Bloom decided there are other things he wanted to do with his millions than buy a football club.

I don't like Reading much, but I won't gloat at them over a points deduction

... but Reading doesnt have financial trouble, making this very different. They dont have problem with the finances, just with the rules.
