Royals boss expects Reading to show their quality against the Seagulls...

Royals boss Jaap Stam is looking forward to returning to Madejski Stadium following two away trips in the space of five days, with the Dutchman expecting for a strong performance against in-from Brighton.

“It will be good to be back at Madejski Stadium,” said Stam. “It is always nice to play in your home ground in front of your own magnificent fans. We know they will get right behind us and we appreciate their fantastic support and will need it more than ever tomorrow."

“We’ve got a lot of quality in our team and every game that we playing we will be going for the win, so we’ll see on Saturday what is going to happen.”

Brighton have won three of their opening four games in all competitions, drawing the other away at Derby. Stam admits they will bring a significant threat with them on Saturday, one he hopes the Royals will counter.

“Brighton have done very well and have got off to a very good start. They have a very good team and we said at the beginning in of the season that our start was a difficult one with the teams that we are going to be facing, we've been massively unlucky in how the fixtures have come out but we need to make the best of it."

“We have had two away games now so it is great to be back on Saturday and hopefully we can get a good result as well.”

On the other side of the coin, we HAVE been very lucky with the fixtures - playing Derby while the team and new manager were getting to know one another was handy, then two winnable home games, then another new manager with team in transition.

I fancy us to take all three points tomorrow.

Staam is bigging everything up at Reading but the fans aren't daft. They had a routine win opening day against a very disappointing Preston. Then lost comfortably at Wolves and Newcastle. Staam claims they were unlucky on Wednesday and 4 -1 might have flattered Newcastle but even so, its still a heavy defeat. They look suspect at the back and Van den Bergh looks out of his depth. If they slip up tomorrow, the locals will be sharpening the knives and predictions that he won't make Christmas will gather pace.

Has he been to a Reading home game? Their fans are terrible and don't sing at all.... Let's hope he doesn't confuse us as Reading fans tomorrow and think what great support he has...

He was viewing it through his Jaap's eye.

Standard PR. We do it too - our atmosphere on Tuesday was described by the club in a press release today as having been "electric" ...

I suppose if crowd noise was pumped through the PA system, as they used to do (maybe they still do?) at Sheffield Wednesday that would technically be true................

Draw a good result given our recent record there.

Be pleased with a draw (depending how game pans out)

I can see where you are coming from....but Reading away is really one of those games which would be marked down as an achievable three points..whilst only losing 2 away last year was no mean achievement, we drew so many ...one would take a few more losses if it meant a few more wins on the road ..maybe?

If that had happened no one other than you would have been saying that, unless you know something that everyone else doesn't, but I;m sure we played Derby Forest and Rotherham in the Championship last season.
