Hi All, im Wally Gould's son Shaun and im trying to find his 1964 Brighton shirt,
We had an email from a gentleman called David Dresch who spotted his shirt in a second hand shop in brighton for £12, but when he went back for it the folowing day it had been sold, so I know it's still around... If anyone could help me it would be amazing to reunite Wally with his shirt. my email address is slatergoulds@ntlworld.com or contact number 07880726113

Shaun: I would also contact the Argus. It's a good story which hopefully should interest them and I'm sure they can help out with your search.

Hope you find it Shaun.
Your father was a member of the first Brighton team I ever watched....the 64/65 4th Division championship winners. 102 league goals were scored that season and six players reached double figures. Leading scorer ( playing out on the wing ) was Wally with 21.
As he charged down the flanks Wally had a regular habit of spitting and my late father always used to check the wind direction to make sure we weren't in the ' firing line '
Good Luck

He was my first Albion hero. A REAL legend.

As my father and I tended to stand pitchside ( against the wall ) we always got a close up of Wally and Johnny Goodchild ( another goal scoring winger ! ) Although the sheer presence of Bobby Smith caught my eye, I think its fair to say that in those early days Wally was also our favourite.

He was on his way out when i started watching, which was a shame as he was a big favorite & I don't think I ever saw him play.

How is he now, didn't he go to south Africa with some of the other Albion players?

And how about you, young mr gould, are you a Sussex lad or just after a prezzie for your dad, which is fair enough.

Good story anyway, which is bound to be picked up, and here's hoping you get the shirt!.
