The Twitter hashtag idea seems the best fix.

Sorted.
How does a company like viagogo get around the law then? seems very much like a ticket exchange to me
http://www.viagogo.co.uk/About.aspx
They are authorised by the clubs.
Surely illegal is illegal. I guess it's treated as returned and re-sold?
The law says ticket resale is illegal without the permission of the match organiser.
Clearly viagogo have done a deal to get the permission.
Yes I have now read the message in the community section and see that this is the case.
Having looked at other tickets on there, it seems that it's ok also to sell at above the face value on viagogo. Isn't that illegal, authorised or not? If not, it should be!
The whole thing is heading the wrong way, though I understand why some sort of control is needed. It just (as always) penalises those of us who are decent law abiding citizens because of the fear of the occasional problem. As long as the original purchaser remains responsible if they sell to someone who is banned, I don't see the problem, as most of us are reasonably careful when selling on our tickets when we can't use them ourselves.
At least I haven't actually needed to use the exchange to offload tickets recently, as I know enough people who will take them off my hands on the odd occasion, and it won't stop that continuing for those of us lucky enough to have such contacts.
Not illegal. The regulations do say that you have state the face value of the ticket.
If clubs can authorise Viagogo to resell tickets, why can't the club authorise NSC to sell tickets?
"Giving a ticket to a person who agrees to pay for some other goods or services or offering to do so" is just as illegal as a straightforward sale for cash. There are quite a few of us that used to use the ticket exchange and get the purchaser to donate the proceeds to REMF. Shame if REMF loses out.
Anyone know if exchanging tickets with the proceeds going to charitable causes comes under the same legal constraints or can we maybe, in future, exchange our tickets via NSC in a REMF section?
They can authorise NSC. They won't though because they make more money out of their own ticket exchange scheme.
Surely I could just upgrade his ticket and take that guy who lumped Kirkland the other week?

They only make money on the official scheme when I match is sold out - 3-4 times a season at most so I can't see them making much money at all under the scheme that been introduced

Anybody could give their ticket/smartcard to anybody and if that person is banned and is not spotted then they will gain entry - how do you think the Leeds thug got into the game he did
