Playing down expectations because of our injury situation?

Last year he was pushing the players to believe they could finish in the top 4 so it seems slightly unusual for him to publicly say top 10 this time. I think it’s a fair target (along with going far in one or both of the cups) which has probably come from Bloom. Just seems a little unlike RDZ.

Maybe it is because, according to PBOBE the aims of the club is to become an established top 10 premier league and it’s written on a wall somewhere.

I don’t think it is that we can’t finish higher, but that if you aim for that and fall a bit short you don’t end up being relegated as opposed to just trying to stay up each season. So maybe RDZ has seen wall, or he has been listening to some of PBOBE podcast’s and interview's he did last week, where he mentioned it a few times.

Oh yeah, forgot about him. He barely played as I recall. What did he do that was so bad?
He was the guy who photographed himself wiping his arse with 20 pound notes.

But it gets better, or worse; a mate of his was involved in a road accident and had been drinking. Mate was nicked. Being the generous and kind person he is, he offered to collect his mate. Only problem was he had been drinking as well….and was promptly nicked when he arrived in his car to collect his mate. You have to be a particularly stupid person to do this.

Who are the inverted right wingers for De Zerbis system?
I have no idea

Yeah, not the best SINGING that one. But Hoots did bring in King Kayal in January, too, so it's not all bad...

He is clearly unhappy. But he's toned it down now. Feels like he's resigned to the fact that the club can't match his ambitions. Bit of a shame. Hopefully he gives us a chance in the summer to add some more of the quality he wants. But I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves.
Unfortunately, part of me is starting to think this too. Hopefully I’m wrong, but he seems different the last month or so and some of this interviews have seemed a bit moody and with hidden messages. Hope he’ll cheer up and get back seemingly to his old self when the squad starts to return to fitness.

Judgemental much? He also played pretty well for us and filled in when we needed someone. Not everyone is as perfect as you seem to consider yourself - if only he was a black, trans lesbian he may have got your seal of approval eh…

This is where I’m at too. As I said in the main match thread I’m a bit worried by some of his recent interviews. Last night he said twice ‘Barco is not a winger’ which seemed to me like he’s asked for a winger and been told no because we’ve signed Barco. His contract extension remains unsigned. I don’t necessarily disagree with the club not to be held to ransom in January (although we do desperately need an athletic DM who is more developed than Baleba), but I think RDZ is frustrated that his own ambitions to finish top 4/7 are not, in his eyes, being met. I think there’s a good chance he moves on in the summer which would be a shame as a watching fan as his football is the best I’ve ever seen us play.
I'm hoping RDZ stays with us as long as possible.
I foresee Jim Ratcliffe and his new CEO from Man City eventually sorting out Manchester United's continuing under performance.
We all hope United stick with Ten Hag, but failing that decide to appoint Graham Potter or some other puppet.

Unfortunately we all know that RDZ would be brilliant for Man Utd and that they would offer a kings ransom if they decide they want to appoint him.
Ironically our best chance of keeping RDZ is to not win anything and miss out on Europe.

Anyway, we know TB and PB will make the best call with whatever hand they get dealt.
I think RDZ is an intelligent person and still very young.
And he has a good understanding of how comfortable and secure the bed is that he's lying in.

So he’s what then ?
He’s a ball playing midfielder. Caicedo was a defensive midfielder.

He doesn’t have the pace, power or tackling ability to be a defensive midfielder.

The reason we spent £21m on an unproven youngster in Baleba is we really needed a defensive midfielder. If Gilmour had those qualities we wouldn’t have done that.

He’s a defensive midfielder. He’s a different player to Caicedo and Baleba clearly (he’s a wee lad for starters ha) with different strengths but that’s where he normally plays in a pivot with Gross. Is he playing out of position then ?

Strange response. The guy is a moron. Drink driving is one thing, but driving to pick up a mate who has just been nicked for drink driving whilst you’re drunk yourself isn’t the smartest thing is it? And I might not be perfect but I have never done this…..or wiped my arse with a twenty pound notes for that matter.

Gilmour is a defensive midfielder in my eyes.

But he's not got the profile of a 'ballwinner' like Caicedo and Bissouma which confuses people a bit. But looking at the top teams in the division the way Rice, Rodri, Enzo, Mac Allister, Tielemans etc play is not so different.

Basically what I'm getting at is people are overly obsessed with Caicedo

Starting a revolution from my bed
Gilmour’s being asked to play a defensive midfield role but I think his natural role is a deep lying playmaker. He doesn’t win enough duels and defensive actions to be considered a proper DM. Look at the stats:

Do you think so? I’ve always thought he looked moody and a bit unhappy in interviews. Thought he was just going for some Italian mean guy style, he generally looks happier when you see stuff like photos from training ets.

RDZ was quoted as saying "if the club's target is aligned with mine, then there is no issue with signing a new contract".
RDZ stating the Club's ambition as being top 10, should be a matter of concern.

Obviously if the club are as confident they can find a replacement again, then there is nothing to worry about.

They could always say the ambition is top 6 and then sack RDZ when he only finishes 8th or 9th!
