He played 10 Championship games in a title winning team, scored 514 runs average 39.54 scoring 2 centuries. I'd say he's a decent enough red ball batsmen.

I wasn’t questioning his talent, I was questiOning if he wants to commit to red ball.
It would be Understandable if, at his age, he was basically focusing on short format.
If that was the case it would make it a poor signing imho .
A poster above reckons bopara is contracted for half the championship games which would be good news.
Van Zyl , Head , Bopara and Brown makes for a formidable middle order.

In terms of T20, his return was one of the main reasons Essex come out of nowhere to win it this year. Essex fans incredibly fond of him.
