I am not saying I do but Watford seem to have shown that it is possible to speed these things up. as it looks like the winger will play against us in 3 days. Izquierdo couldnt play against Barnet as the clearance wasnt there in time even if CH wanted to play him.
They have not speeded anything up.

They have just made a signing announcement later in the process.

As we would have done with Izquierdo if the news hadn't leaked out earlier than we wanted.

Can anyone quickly outline the timeframes for this? When is the initial hearing?

I believe CH said later this week ? So today/tomorrow. The wording was quite interesting and far more low key than Jose, so I'm wondering if the club are expecting a no and then appeal. Certainly didn't seem as open with information on this one.

If it was up to the club, we wouldn't even have officially announced Izquerido yet. Brugges jumped the gun and blabbed though, so we had no choice but to announce the deal (in principal) before it had all been finalised. I don't think Watford have found a "fasttrack" way, its just different timings of the announcement.

And then following that we need clearance etc. So I'm guessing he's deffo out for Watford?

I really do hope Raphael becomes a legend like Peter Ward for his goal scoring and not a Maheta Molango that this signing has so many similarities to, but more expensive

Benfica winger Andre Carrillo is in UK ahead of his medical at Watford today.

The Hornets are hoping to complete a season-long deal with option to buy for the Peru international, with a work permit having already been granted.

They had deal agreed two days ago so permit for this fella was wrapped up instantly ?! Why can we never do things this simple ?

He's a Peruvian who has been in Portugal for five years. It's possible he has now got dual nationality and as we're still in the EU, that counts. It's also a loan deal, rather than a sale.

He has also played 34 times for Peru, 12 times since and including 2015, if that is 75% of Peru's games i think that makes the work permit a formality.

Oh cool, so it looks like we're good with 2 strikers.

Would we really let Hemed leave? Really silly with only Murray and Dwamena left at the moment. Goodness know when we'll see Baldock again. Having now bought a striker (and still needing another) let's not sell one. We find it hard enough to score goals as it is. Crass stupidity in my view.

We have Brown too that can play upfront, I prefer him to Hemed... sorry

But isn't he injured to and we've no idea when he's likely to be back. Keep as many strikers as possible in my view. I doubt funding is a problem anymore.

But only being allowed to name 25 players in your PL squad might be. If we keep 5 strikers that leaves 20 players to cover 10 positions, since we are likely to play 4-4-1-1. That's a bit of an oversimplification admittedly because of the age exceptions but still, you've not quite thought that through. If we get one more in - and Andy Naylor has hinted we might - then Hemed becomes surplus to requirements.
