I quite liked 'Glory'

and the one where he was pisshead pilot who flew the plane upside down ... that was alright

and 'Devil In a Blue Dress' ... I haven't seen that for ages but remember thinking it was ACE. ... I think I have it on VHS in my loft ... I may even have a VHS player in there.

Glory was (to quote Micah Richards) when Denzil burst onto the scene.

Training Day top of the heap.

Watched Malcolm X again this week, over three nights it’s that long, and as good as D is and always is, the guy who plays X in The Godfather of Harlem is even better.

Honourable mention to Denzil’s ‘film stealing’ US army issue fishtail parka in The Book of Eli.

Courage under fire was brilliant when it was released but I've not watched it for years now.
I also ended up with a copy of the hurricane some years after it was released.
I had never heard of it but when I watched it I was pleasantly surprised, quite a good movie that was.

'Heart Condition ' was rank.

Rank Bob Hoskin film as well while we're at it.

"A tough cop, a dead lawyer. Every partnership has it's problems '

A racist cop receives the heart of a dead black lawyer who he hates .Black man ghost then helps grizzled cop solve crimes . Ya da ya da .... Somehow no way near as good as it sounds. .... Unless you think it just sounds really ****ing shit.

I don't think I've seen a bad film he's been in tbh. One of the finest African American actors around.
Although I think Forest Whitaker pips him on that front.

Hence the thread.

I could have been lazy and gone with one of the Tom's but that's far to easy.

Denzel covers everything, cop, criminal, everyman, agent, politics, killer with power tools, bodyguard and never lets you down.

This thread has given me a good excuse to have a Denzel Washington binge watch.
There are some films I haven't seen in a while and a few recommendations on here I haven't seen.
I think I will then be better placed to certainly come up with a ranked top 10 of his films.

Out of Time is a decent watch, Denzy as a Florida police chief. Doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Man on Fire should be so much better than it is. Slow and somewhat unsatisfying imho. 6/10.
