Brought nothing but embarrassment. How do you devalue the UEFA cup in one night? Let Rangers play in it. Absolute turd.

And well said again that man.

Got EXACTLY what they deserved tonight.

They really were rubbish weren't they? Predictably dull. On the positive side, nice to see a team full of players from the same country as the club they represent in Zenith. But some of Rangers multi-nation 'stars' seemed like a collection of 2nd-rate journeymen who need to improve their basic skills and fitness.

Even a Wilkins team has more ambition than Rangers though. I can't believe they reach a final and don't even show any desire to score a goal. It would have been bad for football had they won.

yeah true, just goes to show that if Rangers & Celtic REALLY want to do well in Europe they need a few seasons in the Prem to snort themselves out!

D'ya reckon either would even survive in the prem ?

SPL ain't called a pub league for nothing it would seem :D

Which is precisely what they are, there have really only been two decent non-British players in Scottish football, Henrik Larsson and Michael Mols, most of the rest are pretty second rate...all the good ones generally end up playing in England, Spain or Italy.

Arguably Celtic beating Manchester United, Liverpool, Blackburn, AC Milan, Benfica, Juventus, Barcelona and others in recent years weakens your argument there. In fact, that 3 of them ARE premiership teams definitely does.

And as much as I hate to say it, I believe Rangers have beaten some decent European sides recently as well.

I didn't watch it for fear of them winning, but was it really worse than Middlesbrough?

True true, Celtic have beaten 3prem teams in recent years......in a cup competition.

Would the current Barnsley team survive in the prem ?

And yes, Rangers HELD out against some half decent teams in this seasons UEFA cup.

Would they hold out for enough points over 38 games I wonder ?

In all honesty, I believe both would probably finish lower mid table in the prem. But fact is the SPL is SHITE !

I think there's a difference between Celtic and Barnsley. Barnsley did it twice this year. They didn't do it last year, they won't do it next year. They lost to Cardiff soon after. Celtic consistently win against top European sides year in year out (minus one blip in recent times!).

Once again can't believe I am blowing Rangers' trumpet, but 3-0 in Lyon is hardly "holding out" either. And whilst 0-0 against Barca is holding out, its something I would say 16 premiership teams could probably not manage.

Fair play to you, some reasonable points. Reckon I'll concede. Think tonights predictable dullness and the way they played against Fiorentina too has drawn me in there.

But where do you think those two would finish in the prem ? Do you reckon they'd consistently qualify for Europe ?

I'm still sticking with lower mid-table I'm afraid.

In the last THREE UEFA Cup matches, Rangers have NEVER looked like scoring. Yet they managed to bluff their way through. They were poor tonight, they offer very little going forward. Zenit were always going to win, their mauling of Bayern Munich must have given them a huge boost!

I think at the moment they definitely would - you might be right about over a season but they've proven they can challenge the big 4 on their day which is more than the majority of Prem clubs who roll over and die each week manage. I sincerely believe both Old Firm teams are btter sides than Everton who have qualified in 5th this year.

I know the debate here is teams rather than clubs, but you have to remember that Celtic are one of the richest and highest-supported clubs in the world, so their potential in the premiership would be interesting...
