I keep being randomly re-directed to http://localgiftspanel.com/uk/survey/indext3b1.php. I've just done a search and this is apparently a common and growing problem on messageboards. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Am I infected with adware or spyware! What's going on!

Someone tweeted something similar to me a week or so back.

I dismissed it but then read about something similar on another forum I use.

My gut feel is that a rogue advert has infiltrated the Adsense network and if that ad gets presented to you, the re-direct happens. I'm pretty confident that NSC itself is clean, especially given the recent re-build undertaken.

If people do get this, I'd be interested to know what ads are showing on NSC when you return back to this tab/window - both at the top of the page and the bottom.

Opening up NSC just now, about 0.5 seconds later, the following invitation appeared:

The only way to get shot of the message was to log off from Internet Explorer. Are people that desperate to off-load Apple® stuff that they interrupt a chap going about his ordinary business?

This is happening to a number of sites currently, including some big ones like DigitalSpy, and Adsense seems to be the common cause.

It's been raised on the official Google support forums, but nothing has come back from them yet.

I'm working with a number of other site hosts to try and find the root cause to see if we can block the ad/network that is causing the issue.

Please post here if you go get redirected to any other sites whilst using NSC.

Been redirected to a couple of sites, but my anti-virus software just shuts them down and boots me out of Internet Explorer before the page opens. I'll see if there is a log on my AV software to find out what the sites were.....

It has happened to me a couple of times as well, usually when i try to go to the big board rather than to a particular thread. Both times i had to close the page on IE and reload NSC again from my bookmark as just clicking the bookmark again with the page still open just redirected me again.

Is there any more news about this, as it happened again this morning.

I'm afraid not.

I've actively in email discussions with a number of site owners who are experiencing the same, including some very big sites like DigitalSpy. I'm also involved in discussions on the official Google product forum too. Thus far there's been limited feedback from Google but we will get there, I'm sure.

TalkTalk are one of the latest to be hit.

I got exactly the same just now, and yesterday. Had to log off to get rid of it. Very annoying.

Me too. Seems to pop up when I first try to read a post & have to log out completely to get rid of it.
Doesn't seem to appear after it's been shut down after that, though.

It's a bit of a pain in the arse.

Is this limited to IE? I use Chrome and have never had the problem. And to be honest Chrome is a whole lot better than Internet Exploder anyway....
