Oi, are you calling Burgess Hill odd?

Hassocks, fair enough, it's the Village of the Damned, but I take issue with BH being called odd. Crap, yes, odd: harsh.

My missus has just started her new job in Burgess Hill, she said it's nice, but very quiet.

Those who come in from Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes, Eastbourne etc have also got works on the line between Lewes and Brighton.

Fortunately for us we are coming in by car - from Sheffield :lol:

Well I'll be driving - it sounds like a complete nightmare. Mind you getting the shuttle from the Mill Road Park & Ride can be fun sometimes - I mean these drivers are surely local but we've gone many different ways to Withdean down some roads that would have been difficult for a horse and cart let alone a bloody great bus !!

The point about rail replacement buses is that they can and should be managed in a way that reflects the demand for travel by rail ticket holders. If there are enough passengers at Haywards Heath who want to travel direct to Brighton, they will fill the bus with just those people - and run it the quickest way to Brighton Station - probably down Dyke Road. Passengers for Preston Park will be on a separate bus that will run down London Road.

And vice-versa after the match.

To answer DTG's point ... BOTH routes will be used.

Oh no they haven't. Coastal trains are unaffected.

The worst ever replacement buses were when the whole of Brighton got cut off by flooding just after the millenium and there was water bubbling out of the drains. The whole of commuterland was chucked on to replacement charabancs, some of which had obviously been parked in farmers barns for about half a century. None of the drivers knew the way from Haywards Heath into Brighton. Lasted bloody weeks. Nightmare.
