Radcliffe IS running in 10,000m tonight

London Irish said:
The point about running tonight is that it shows she's got guts and is not a quitter.

Thousands of British fans who spent a lot of money to get to Athens went to that new stadium a few days ago and didn't get to see their heroine. Now they will.

It matters not if the African runners ousprint her on the final lap, this is a win-win situation for Paula, anyone associated with those quitter T-shirts now will look very stupid.

Hicham El Guerrouj has dominated his event as much as Paula but has suffered as many, if not more, Olympic flops than her. He has kept going and got his reward - so will Paula, tonight, or in 4 years' time.

as she has already quit one race, I think we can all agree that she is a quitter

Becham and co looked f***ed after about an hour against Portugal and the he takes THAT penalty. Then he is cheered like a hero at Newcastle last week.No comparison with Paula Radcliffe.

I think I'll jump on the bandwagon & slag off someone who gave everything. It's a really good feeling to delight in someone at their lowest point.

Come on everyone, lets kick her while she's down, doesn't it make you feel really big about yourself?

:salute:

I think its a real shame and I feel nothing but sadness for her. She is a professional athlete who made an error and maybe overestimated her ability to win a marathon in 90 degree heat. So what - she is not a loser, she is brave to even contemplate the 10,000 metres when it was unlikely she could have got her head round it anyway. She deserves applause rather than derision - unlikely to see her often, if ever again, as I read somewhere that she now wants to start a family.
