Listen, I'm on benefits right now. I have tried to do voluntary work but I can't becuase I should be job seeking, as it is I apply for upwards of 50 jobs a week and get nowhere due in no small way to my age.

Easy to say things like that when you're not there.

Please don't think I was generalising everyone in that. As you say, you try and do voluntary work which is what I meant, I didn't mean nobody deserves benefits, far from it. Just that there are things anyone can do, like voluntary work etc, which can make a huge difference to someone elses life.

Okay, fair enough but I can tell you the ridiculous catch 22 situation in this country is very frustrating. I am repeatedly knocked back because I am TOO EXPERIENCED. How can you deal with that ?

You have to laugh but I've been in IT Support for over thirty years. It's a joke that so many companies are advertising IT Training. I know that every job I apply for there's at least thirty applicants. I have looked all over the south east and the last bit of work I did involved between four and a half and five hours travelling, I barely broke even. The contract was terminated early thanks to the firm I was working for getting terminated as they simply weren't doing the job properly.

If I try for a job outside of the IT industry I get turned down out of sight thanks to my previous lengthy career. Getting a job stacking beans just won't cover my costs.

I think you can safely say I am near the end of mt tether !

I have shocked more than a few over the sheer size and lack of power of those old beasts not to mention the fire precautions and air conditioned, hi security environments they lived in.
