This thread has gone waaaaay off course now although it's been quite amusing. For the record though Soulman, in response to my question all you've done is repeat the old it's just an abbreviation and then thrown in some 'you can't say anything anymore' type stuff. My last word on the subject. The word Paki is used as an insult in this country. Anyone who denies that is either very young or I would say, at best disrespectful. That's my opinion. It may be used innocently in other countries, maybe one or two people use it innocently in the UK, but I'd be surprised. I think it's willful ignorance to deny it's connotations. I think even one of our nsc members was abused on twitter once as a paki? I may be wrong.

PAKI originally was the acronym from Punjabi and Kashmiri Indian. Stan is land. The modern day usage has racist connotations, as you well know.
