RIP

Very fortunate to see an impromptu performance of this track live 14 years ago or so at a music festival. I remember the buzz and excitement in the crowd as he took the stage. A big hitter.

So sad, the most iconic band of my childhood.

Just read he was abducted by a paedophile gang in France on a school trip, gone 4 days. Never told his folks. Different world then I know but WTF!!

Was at Lanchester (Coventry) Polytechnic 1980 living in a typical student house off the Foleshill Road.

Paying rent in Cash to our Landlord who could be found in the local 'Commonwealth' Social Club.

Following that depressing experience up was a visit to the Chippy (Pukka Pies anyone?).

In the queue one Friday night a bunch of blokes bundle in behind me, led by one Terry Hall. From memory he didn't smile very much.

Ghost Town sums up Coventry at the time, remember skinheads beating an Asian lad to death and chucking him into a town centre fountain.

And Our Lips are Sealed is one of my favourite songs ever.

He was only a year older than I am...

Such sad news. Great memories of the Two-Tone Tour at Portsmouth Guildhall, even if it felt like the whole place could kick off at any moment. His career indicated an interesting range of musical influences from ska to Scott Walker with some really interesting results. He will be sadly missed

This has been a terrible thing to wake up to.

There aren't many kings of cool left now.

I guess him and his music are another strong common bond between us and we grieve his passing together.

I hope Charlton play something in tribute tomorrow, but part of me hopes they don't.

Thanks Terry. You were awesome.

So sad this, rubbish news. I was 18 in 1979 and saw the Specials as well as all the other bands linked at the time as much as I could. Usually at the Suite.
Last saw them in October last year at the Centre. Far too young for him to pass on.
RIP Terry.

Such sad news.

An iconic voice and a talented, and understandably troubled man, whose music will be long remembered.

The singer died after a brief illness, The Specials said in a statement.
"Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls," they wrote.
"His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love.
"He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity."

RIP Terry Hall.

This has really upset me. 2Tone has been a part of my life since it all started....RIP Terry. A legend from my childhood taken way to early.

This is incredibly sad news. They were playing live until very recently- what a terrible loss.
