This was the tie breaker from the quiz I attended yesterday. No cheating. Nearest the pin. When was the first penalty scored in an FA Cup Final?

Was there a big disagreement after the answer was given as to whether an FA Cup Final Replay counts as a Final?

No because no one realised it was a replay.

Several people 1 out, answer is 1910 and was the replay between Barnsley and Newcastle. Newcastle won the replay 2-0 with the second goal being a penalty.

Like others on the thread I got mixed up with first penalty miss and first sending off and was thinking too recent.

I went for 1960 in the end which was miles out but closer than the other person!!!

Ha this is great - we had a works quiz recently and this same question came up.

I think it’s 1910 but I’m sure you are going to tell me I’m (badly) wrong!

PS My answer was a guess - 1923

OK here’s another question. No cheating, answer is not hard to find on Google…

What’s the lowest score that has never been made by a batsman in a single innings in test cricket? Obviously there will be higher and lower than this, but never this particular score.

I reckon that’s going to be high - 200+ I’ll go for 213.
