Depends which way you are going? If you are heading East towards Lewes there is a special disability lane to access the platform. It works well but as others have mentioned it does get abused by some people. Might I suggest that your father in law doesn't need an entourage of 6 others otherwise you might get questioned.
I literally addressed that directly in the post!

It's the other way but I think we've made a decision.

Hi all, wondering if anyone has any experience and can offer any advice on this.

My elderly father in law is coming to the game this evening. He doesn't have a blue badge but is in his late 80's and it's quite clear to see from one glance he isn't very mobile and can't stand for long.

(Before any captain hindsight warriors pop up we originally thought we had someone to drop off and pick up, but this has fallen through and parking now sold out).

Is it likely that a polite word with the stewards and he might be allowed to skip the queue after the game (maybe with my wife to help him)? I've seen quite large groups do this, but not sure what the criteria is and how strict they are. Just to be clear I'll happily join the back of the queue with my son, not trying to get a whole group through.

Thanks in advance all.

(Happy to hear any other suggestions - could do P&R but I've heard you can end up in a very long queue and that Mill Rd is a bit of a nightmare, but happy to be corrected).
Two issues here:

1. Will the stewards in charge have enough common sense to allow

2. Will younger more able fans be pushing and shoving, many drunk, regardless of an OAP and his family because there’s been a marked decline in society manners with passage of time but especially post Covid.

Good luck, and I wouldn’t hesitate to give priority to you and your family myself but then I’m old fashioned and had parents that taught me such basic manners

Always worth checking as there’s no set rule when they become available.

No problem, hope the queue isn’t too bad for him 👍🏻
The stewards will allow him to bypass the queues. After the game, walk up the steps to the car park opposite the South Stand entrance and immediately at the top of the steps, turn left and waok around the perimeter of the coach park , walking behind the coaches/metal crash barrier. When you reach the top of the steps where the front of the Park and Ride queues are, just ask the stewards that you need the EDF bus and they will direct you to it.

I'd be shocked if they didn't let you. After the Athens game about 8 able bodied blokes were allowed to jump past everyone. When challenged by some soaking wet fans they snapped back to say their mate was disabled.
