[Travel] Question from someone far away planning to visit the Amex

Hi, I'm wondering if someone could spare a minute to help a worried Swede out? After years of planning (plans that covid, money occasional being tight and a newborn baby boy all shot down) I'm finally hopping on a plane to England and finding my way down to Brighton for the home game against Villa on the 4 of March. My first ever Brighton game in person (or any PL game for that matter), and I'm excited as a child on Christmas Eve!

I was planning on making the reservations tonight, and splashing the extra 38 pounds on the MyAlbion+ membership, just to make sure that I can reserve the ticket well in advance. Most importantly, making sure that I have the ticket sorted before booking the flight and a low-budget hotel for a still decent price (currently living in Lithuania and on a Lithuanian salary, which doesn't leave much pocket money when the bills are paid).

Turns out I hadn't read the fine print before tonight, though, and all "extra features" of the + membership, such as early access to tickets, don't kick in until after 2 weeks. Which would mean that I'm down to 10 days, give or take, before the game.

Since I've never looked at tickets before I really haven't paid attention to how far in advance tickets usually go on general sale, or how common it is that they get sold out?

What do you experienced ladies and gentlemen say? Would I be an idiot to reserve the flights and hotel now and simply trust that I'll be able to sort a single ticket with 10 days to spare (if I get the membership), or skip the membership and wait until they go on general sale? Or are there usually (almost guaranteed) tickets available on short notice?

Any input would be much appreciated!

Just to let you know we are at home to West Ham that day but you should be able to pick up a ticket as it’s not one of the ‘bigger games’.
I’ll let a regular Amex visitor give you more detailed info.

Hey, I think you might have gotten mixed up as we play West Ham on the 4th of March and not Aston Villa. I also hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at a glance it looks like the game is almost sold out already (only a handful of seats left across the stadium). I would give this one a miss and try to go for a game later in the season, you shouldn't have any issues getting to a game if you try to buy a ticket when they go on sale for members.

Leaving it the experts, but it’ll be West Ham (same colour scheme).

I hope it works out and is enjoyable for you.
Did I actually write Villa?! Instead of editing my post I will just hang my head in shame. Considering I've spent the last 24 hours looking at the tickets, I don't understand how I managed to get that one wrong!

And thank you!

Would agree with this. You should have a decent chance to get a ticket for Brentford or Wolves which are both in April.

Yes, quite mixed up :) . And thank you for your input, even though it's not what I wanted to hear, I think you might be the voice of reason. I'll get so few opportunities to come over, that I shouldn't gamble. Sigh...

Shouldn’t be a problem- single exchange tickets always available when matches sell out……and they’re the same (full adult) price

Perhaps some of those sporadic tickets (mentioned above) will still be available in 10 days time?

So hold all your horses until then.

As others have mentioned, if you're just looking for a single ticket you should be able to get one. If the game sells out, the ticket exchange will be open and if you post on here nearer the time, someone will likely know someone who can transfer you their ticket (but think that would be another 20 quid for the privilege).

Worst case scenario, you could contact the club and they might be able to sort you out with one ticket.

a) check with the ticket exchange
b) contact the club directly and tell them how and why you are coming over especially.

Agree with contacting club (supporter services email) - they might help.

When games go to Ticket Exchange is that automatically "General Sale"..? If so, no need for Albion+. Keep posting on here and someone can PM you and coordinate so you get to buy their seat...
