Shit name but I was really expecting to hate Casino Royale to be honest and it turned out to be a real winner.

Die Another Day, Brosnan's last outing, with the invisible BMW and villain with a changeable face looked like the death of the franchise it was so poor but despite the negative press initially received Daniel Craig has actually rescued Bond so I will reserve hope for this latest effort.

I've watched films with shit titles before and enjoyed them. At least you know it can't be any worse than Die Another Day

Bond has been transformed by Craig. Next one is going to be very good.

It will be superb. I think people have to forget about the cheesiness of Roger Moore and realise Bond is supposed to be a tough, complicated assassin.

now that all(?) the IAN FLEMING books about 007 have been done, it should stop-

any more will weaken the legend.

Couldn't disagree more. The books by Ian Fleming ran out years ago (none of the Brosnan films were Fleming books) and the films were never faithful to them anyway. The only faithful adaptations have been OHMSS and Casino Royale. All the others are exagerrated or just mis matches of elements of differant books and short stories. No reason why a screenwriter can't continue with writing them seeing as most of the films had very little to do with the books anyway.

Dear oh dear, a lot of people getting carried away with this one. I enjoyed the first half of Casino Royale, hoping it would blend a sort of noirish (see the initial fight in the toilet) with some fantasical but gritty action scenes (construction site). Unfortunately the second half went on way to long, that heart attack nonsense was bent and I just didn't buy into the broken hearted Bond bullshit.

Bourne pushed the bar to a level Bond can't compete at. It needed a serious change of tact and I didn't find it that different to the first couple of Brosnan ones I saw. It needs to be darker with more espionage, character development and a harder edge.

Perhaps if there was more Russian spoken and some undertones of post-marxist emancipation with a strong undercurrant of proto masculine parental dysfunction you would enjoy it more? :D:D

Absolutely, it does sound like a bargain bin Sci-Fi with out 0f space monsters feasting on the brains of humanoids. I have lost interest in the Bonds ever since we had that crappy invisible car in one of Brosnans films. I know it is supposed to be futuristic, but I much prefer the old fashioned future as opposed to the modern day future. Plus, Bond has lost his 'Bondness' over the years.
In this one and casino royal he wasnt supposed to be 'bondish'.

It's like the Batman series.

You have to learn to accept the evolution of the character, or just forget it. At first I was really against the Daniel Craig Bond, but then saw Casino Royale and thought it was quality.

Actually agree with pretty much what you have said there, however the film that is nearest to the book is From Russia with Love.
