[NSC] QPR Friendly away 3 August

Webster looks like Igor, must have spent some time at the gym this summer.

He has. He’s been doing extra sessions and working really hard all summer, didn’t really have a break - was first one back at training ground. He’s determined to do well this season.

Hope he stays fit as there’s a cracking player there and a great lad.

He may not be a certain starter but for me the effort and chasing down Sarmiento does is an asset definitely worth having in the squad, especially off the bench when teams are tiring. All this crap about him and Ayari not pulling up trees last season is laughable. They barely played a full 90mins. If they get given regular game time I'm confident they can get consistency and be real assets for us.

At the end of season 2022/23 JPV looked like a deer caught in headlights, largely because he barely played. Having being given a consistent run of games last season he's developed and now looks one of the first on the team sheet. Very few young players come straight in and look amazing. It takes games and a run of them to get in to the routine of the side. Ayari and Sarmiento IMO definitely could fit into this category like JPV has now done.

However it's clear to me that Milner is starting the season in defensive midfield. Wieffer is too far away and will be eased in

Didn’t surprise me that Wieffer looks like he might need a few matches to get up with the intensity of the English game, especially after a layoff. Minteh the obvious star of pre-season. Ayari the pleasant surprise - looks like he might have a role to play. So much talent in the squad, just how it knits together.

Well I’m at the ground guess you’re watching on a laptop? One soft pen and barely any clear cut chances against a team that has got to be a favourite for relegation. Guess you’re easily pleased.

That’s a decent argument if we’re at home and you have a WSU / ESU “FIFA view”.

It’s a pretty terrible argument if you’ve spent three hours before the game drinking and snorting coke and then found yourself in the upper tier of the away end at Loftus Road.

Pretty underwhelmed by that performanice and I worry that we are two weeks from kick off and FH doesn’t seem to have a clue what his best team is. No surprise as so many players weren’t available. All a bit scattergun to me at the moment

I thought Baleba and Ayari were amongst our better players and Sarmiento looked keen. I doubt more than one of them will be a starter when everyone is available though

Minteh, great pace (which we knew), but very one footed.

Sarmiento not good enough.

Some really poor decisions out there, but that is the point of preseason.

I was at the ground, not a soft penalty at all, clipped his heels and put him off balance….

Really doubt it. As soon as Dunk is back, Baleba moves to midfield, Milner to the bench.

You realise that's exactly what pre season friendlies are for? Trying things out, seeing what works, what doesn't, who's performing and who isn't.

I'd be more worried if FH wasn't tinkering at this stage.

Of course, but we’ll see if the tinkering was too much, we are one game from the start of the season. Do YOU have a clue what the starting 11 will be?

Hopefully FH does but I am struggling to recall a pre season where we were making so many changes with one game to go before the season kicks off whilst missing so many of the previous season’s starters

We made them look poor. We had all the possession, pressed well and tied up their rare forays into our half. Even with the 2nd or 3rd string line up for the last 20 mins.

Isn't that rather obvious 0 games (no, friendlies don't count, they never count) into his career as Brighton manager

Possibly Sarmiento could come good

I personally don't think Ayari will make a prem player but hope to be proven wrong

Really surprised at the comments on here. We bossed the whole game and should have scored more. QPR didn't threaten us at all.

We are missing Verbruggen, Lamptey, Dunk, Igor, Barco, Estupinin, March, Adingra, Enciso, Ferguson, Joao Pedro. 6 or 7 of them start when fit
