Going to give this a swerve and save my money for Germany 2024, and North America 2026

I'd love to go to both of these tournaments (although I had forgotten about the ludicrous group format until someone mentioned it earlier in the thread). I have tickets for next summer's Euro's, it just remains to be seen whether we're back with full capacity crowds by then.

Tough group

Agreed. We've drawn two of the best 2nd and 3rd seeds in their respective pots. Albania are no pushovers too.

Procession.

Its going to be a hell of a weird Finals tournament. 21st Nov - 18th Dec, won't really feel like a World Cup at all.

Tough group

It shouldn't be. Poland and Albania were 2 of the higher ranked teams in pots 2&4, Hungary are one of lowest in pot 3, and Andorra/San Marino are both just goal difference builders..... But luckily they are still both relatively near. It was Andorra or Armenia left.... Armenia is a right old trek.

Poland away and a tricky and half decent Albania, the rest should be cannon fodder.

It's either Qatar 2022 or Southgate OUT. Win/Win

Dull group. Some of these nations should have to pre-qualify to get to this stage...

No man its ****ing beautiful that some part-time librarian from San Marino gets to play world class players.

Just look at this guy, when San Marino went on a two game undefeated streak a month ago.

It might be dull to us but to guys like this playing international football is as big as life gets. I always cheer for the micro nations, even when they play Sweden or Holland.

I see we also got placed in a 6 team group, so 10 games instead of 8.

I can hear Jurgens teeth grinding from here already.

Hungary have just won their Nations League group comfortably ahead of Russia, Serbia and Turkey. Three decent countries. They've got some promising youngsters coming through.

A banana skin of a group if you take out useless San Marino.

World cup is all about money to get best sides to quarters. As usual joke quality of some of sides.

It's amusing/interesting a few times, but a tedious, predictable narrative imo (Gualtieri's goal aside).

Let's see how everyone feels when there's a two-week break from the Albion while England complete a hat-trick of matches against Albania, Andorra and San Marino in front of tiny crowds... with the likes of Lamptey*, White* and March* put at risk.

* Subject to change.

Of course its going to bull and annoying but was it that much more fun to play against Belgium, and will it be that more fun to play vs Poland? Sure, maybe a tiny bit more exciting but surely a lot of people will think its just dull and annoying with the breaks pretty much regardless of opposition.

Countries with 50+ million people, with some exceptions, are generally going to qualify to 9 out of 10 championships, realistically speaking the only time the qualifiers gets really exciting for you is when something goes terribly wrong.

its more about money going through to smaller associations, hence the driver to include as many as possible. via as many hands and entities as possible of course.
