Q for STH, will raising the capacity of the stadium to 30,000........

Will raising the capacity of Falmer make you less likely to renew?

  • Less likely, as I know I can get a ticket for every match

It depends on what league we play. If we get promoted to the Prem and the ground expansion is due in the close season beforehand, I think season ticket takeup will be over 95%. However, just putting more seats in without kicking on another division will mean that there will be a few who decide to take the risk of picking and choosing their games.

Life was great in the East Stand at the Goldstone being able to be near the away fans and have a bit of banter and goading is quality at a match !! I HAVE MISSED THAT FOR YEARS !!!

Everyone has their own situation. Getting one was a very borderline decision for me this year, I couldn't really afford it, and also knew I'd be working for a lot of Saturdays. As it happens, all the changed dates mean I've seen far more games than I expected, so it's been better value, I've shifted others at face value, and can transfer out of the family section into the WSL for night games.

Much as I have enjoyed this season, unless my income goes up I'd struggle to justify it again next time. Since the risk (a very big risk to me) of not getting in at all was huge in that decision, more seats and chances of matchday tickets would certainly be a factor.

I genuinely think, depending on the amount of midweek games, I'd be tempted to ditch mine and buy tickets each week for the Saturday games if it worked out cheaper. It's a nightmare getting home as it is on a Tuesday night, and with an extra 8000 it'll only be worse.

Wouldn't change mine for the world, Wonderful stadium, pretty content with the football so far given its our maiden season in the Championship and my perfect seat, Inline with the penalty spot back row north stand you'll have to get a crow bar to move me.

Not the real one
I'm on the waiting list for a ST. I work shifts so can't make all the games. I went straight on the list back in August, was told I was 900 or something in the que. That's individuals, so assuming most buy more than 1 ticket, there's probably about 3000+ on the list by now.
However, I've found it ok getting the match by match tickets this season. So if we expand to 30k, I definately won't get a ST, as it'll be easier to get tickets. I was a season ticket holder since I was 9 and had one for 23 years (apart from 2yr @ Gillingham), but I prefer going match by match now and like not always sitting next to the same people and being able to sit in west and east. So I suppose, more folks on the list might feel the same. I do hope the club expand the east upper, the ground looks unfinished and if the club wait, circumstances might change and it might never get expanded. Gotta strike while the irons hot!

Wouldn't mind moving to east upper.

Im mulling this over too, I have good seats in the East at present, but if I could get an equally good seat in the Upper i would be tempted, how much more money do we think East Upper will be ?

Whilst it would be 'easier' to get tickets on a match by match basis if we had more seats, I would still have a ST due to the 'value for money' aspect.

It's £460.00 a year (or £38.33 per month) for each of our tickets - exactly £20.00 per game.

Buying the same seat on a match by match basis is £28.00 per game, plus £2.00 booking fee.

That means I could see only 15 games instead of 23 for the same cost.

Add in the 'no hassle' situation with a ST, the DD option and it's a no brainer for me.

IF the extra seats do go in, I would hope that ST prices would be held pretty stable, to ensure that we don't lose too many STH who think it would be better to buy them on a game by game basis.

Id like to see the club bring in some sort of rule about maybe over 18's only in north stand as im fed up witht he people in front and behind with about 10 kids moaning every time i jump shout sing swear and so on and the old grumpy people to they just as bad i think the east stand should be for families and oaps ... but for the uestion yes ill be renewing my ticket in the north stand but maybe in west side of it as thats where it sounds best

Does anyone actually KNOW when these new seats are going in?

This .. it looks like they've ripped quite a lot of the framework away at the back of the East so I assumed they were starting it ... but no announcements so maybe some repair work or something.

I wouldn't give up ST but would quite like to move from my WSL seat which is just too near pitch level to see what's going on in the North/East quadrant - but the atmo is pretty good so will have to have a good think

Not sure mate. West upper is £395 towards the wings and £460 for the middle part. I'd be surprised if it was anymore than £500.

Reckon the new East Upper seats will either be a new highest price bracket (£650?) or largely 1901...

There's noway they'd be nearly 200 quid more than the best seats in WSU (£460).

Maybe £500-£525. I'd be very surprised if they are nearly £600 as I wouldn't bother moving from WSU and I'm sure not that many people would even invest in ST's over there. I know what you're saying in that they are kind of level with 1901 on the WS but I just can't see them being that expensive. We'll see though obviously I could be very wrong!

I could be wrong here but I reckon it might be in the club’s interest to keep their cards close to the chests with regard to expansion, inevitably some local residents will object but if the club put in their application without making a song and dance then it might go under the radar and have a greater chance of being given permission.

Interesting question... if the 11% (less likely's and undecided's) didn't renew, and this applied across the whole STH holder population, that could be another 2000 ST not renewed, as well as the 8000 new seats.

Then again, we could be in the Premier League!
