Depends on what genre, but there are three that really stand out.
Cozy Powell - Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Whitesnake etc.
Dave Lombardo - Slayer, Testament, Grip Inc etc.
Gene Hoglan - Dark Angel, Strapping Young Lad etc.

Has to be Moon for me, others may be technically better but his style of drumming and on stage charisma make him my favourite by some distance

Neil Peart is quite amazing. Check out his work on Spirit of Radio.

The mention for Dave Lombardo is an interesting one, technically he is very good....and also bloody brutal. Quite a combination.

Bonham and Moon no contest. For anyone with a really long memory and he was the master - Buddy Rich

I do hate it when someone says: Joe Bloggs - end of thread. Clearly it's not the end of the thread nor does it make it fact if you suffix your choice with the word FACT. Not even in capitals.

Three drummers spring to mind as the best IMO: Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Joey Jordison from Slipknot.

Here's the first two in my fave video of all time

and here's Joey Jordison suspended in the air, both arms and both feet playing. Incredible stuff.

Bit obscure but I'd go for a guy called Dave Ruffy who played in the Ruts. Bad quality live clip here but he was amazing at switching from reggae to rock to some serious punk all in one gig. One of the only drummers I ever saw who seemed to manage this so effortlessly!
