To our credit we stopped Ritchie and Wilson both prolific scorers from scoring. We were only undone by a terrible mis header, a deflected shot and a debatable penalty. None of this SH could have foreseen and planned to avoid.

The stats show a fairly even game. Bournemouth don't look as good as a Derby or Middlesbrough, a second quarter of the table side for me. One stupid header and a ridiculous lunge gave them this win on a plate.

I thought Wilson was very clever the way he drew Dunk into the challenge for the penalty, being pushed wide he half stopped and moved sideways making the tackle look bad, Dunk knew straight away he had been owned.

I agree but he didnt score and the resulting penalty could have been saved. I personally think he conned the ref who fell for it. Dunk did not make the tackle he pulled his own legs away.

Debatable? :lolol: Dunk fairly much assaulted him.

As for the OP, you're on another planet. We are averaging less than a point a match in a division where you play 46 games and probably need 54 odd points to stay up. We have played most of the easy teams at home already, Blackpool, Bolton, Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday and taken five points from those games. When exactly should we panic? When we're sat at Middlesboro in May watching us capitulate 2-0 before throwing the players shirts back to them a la Wolves?

I've just watched it back for the first time since being at the game and you're spot on. Wilson largely ignored the ball and sidestepped into where he expected the challenge behind him to come from, and he proved to be correct. Dunk was playing the ball but by the time he got there, Wilson was in the way. Clever forward play, naive defending or a combination of the two. Stonewall penalty regardless.

The deflected shot following a corner which was 100% a goal kick

Agreed, I'd forgotten that. However it was also a deflected shot made by a player in 10 yards of space all round. Every one of our players was drawn to the ball like flies to poop.

You have to be kidding. The own goal and penalties werem't acts of god, they were examples of precision creative play by B'muff that we couldn't cope with. We only stopped Wilson from scoring by hacking him down

Debatable Penalty? Whaaaaaaaaat

He wiped him out! If that was at our end and not given we would be going cataclysmicly mental.

You have over simplified and completely misunderstood.

Nobody is relying on FFP to save Brighton and I didn't write this even if you seem to have read it.

January will be the first test of the Football League's mettle when it comes to FFP. Once the results have been published and any punishments meted out, we will see whether the system and administrators will stand up to challenge. Whatever the outcome, this will be a game changer. It will be clear to all owners whether those who tried to meet FFP targets or those who ignored or tried to find loopholes made the best move. This is nothing to do with this season, but it will set the tone for the competition in the next decade.

Underlying the point I was making is that there are much larger issues at hand this year than whether or not Brighton finish 7th or 21st, but that a lot of fans are blinded to this and over reacting to a string of disappointing results. Thanks for personifying my point.

Glad to be of service. Of course I was being facetious earlier, this isn't the Oxford Debating Union, we are allowed to make point with a bit of fun. But if you want a more po-faced discussion, fine.

You, for me, personify the type of fan who takes everything the board say about FFP utterly credulously, as if in seasons to come it will guarantee we will prosper while the feckless rest go out of business.

The problem of FFP is that it's trying to challenge something much, much bigger than itself, the billionaire economics of the Sky-funded Premiership. It's like the gravitational pull of Mercury trying to combat the gravitational pull of the Sun. There is no indication it will transform the investment-led economics of how teams function at this level. The consequences for clubs in the Championship are harsh, we have to pay players wages in a market utterly distorted by Premiership wage benchmarks without having the Sky funding. But the gravitational pull of the Sky cash will continue to attract clubs that will pay this money. If we stand apart from that, we might congratulate ourselves for being very sensible and pure, but will likely do so in a half-full Amex scrapping away in the last third of the Championship. Better than Withdean? Certainly. But what the new 15,000 ticket holders thought they were signing up for? I don't think so.

Even though the TV replay showed it flicked off Bennets toe?

We have 13 points from 15 games. No wins since August. We finished 6th last year. We are tactically inept and the manager seems to wander round reacting to the whole situation with a careless shrug. We haven't even looked like winning a game since Cardiff. Sacking the manager would be more than appropriate in my opinion.

This. Some people are just too happy clappy.

we will go down with sami in charge. Do the decent thing bloom. They shoot horses dont they?

That might just be the best post you've ever written on this board.

This. I wish the happy clappys went to Boro last season. 14-15k rattling round a 30k stadium is a soulless experience. Believe me it carries on like this and it will happen.

These 15k extra STH basically signed up on the promise of prem league footy or at least challenging for it.

Im already thinking of binning off wigan and blackburn home games as I really cant be arsed and have no faith in the new manager. Before anyone starts yes I was at the goldstone, gillingham, withdean.

i therefore have seen good albion teams, shit albion teams and good and bad managers.

sami is up there with the geoff woods and hinshelwoods. He has to go.
The squad isnt that bad overall but the manager for one reason or another tactics, stupid squad rotation, his demeamour whatever cant get the best or a winning formula.

We aren't being outclassed in every game.
We are drawing games we should have won and losing games we should have drawn.
We have lost only one game by more than one goal.
We would probably have got a draw tonight if the pressure of the winless run hadn't made us chase the win.
We have an inexperienced management team who will make mistakes.
We aren't going to go up this year, but nobody tipped us to.

Instead of suggesting that we sack everyone at the club and starting conspiracy theories that the chairman is deliberately trying to fail, perhaps it would be more useful to show some backbone whilst the management and team work hard to improve things which will turn the margins in our favour. Signings like Elliott Bennett should help provide the type of good chances that our strikers put away today and have done at their previous clubs.

This season was always going to be about what happens after January's FFP results are published. If things don't improve after that, then we can all run around around with our hair on fire.

Cue someone saying that we will be twelve points adrift in 24th by then, despite the fact that, even with the winless run, we haven't been in the relegation zone yet.

Complacency personified.
