Thanks Lord B.
Do we know if the transport guys have met and agreed anything and what are Lewes DC doing on the 12th? I thought they had finished giving evidence
I thought the extension into May was because Lewes's transport "expert" couldn't appear before then. So what happens after May 4th and how soon after the General Election can a decision be announced?
Sorry to hassle you with questions, Lord B.

The government pisses around for another 2 years wasting more of our money would seem to be the obvious answer. Is there anybody who hasn't become a cynic since this all started 5 years ago......?

So... let's get this straight... Hazel McKay gets to bang on about her endangered regency gatepost and private fantasy involving shoreham harbour from 09:30 til - what? - 09:39? Then they adjourn for the best part of a month?

Sweet Jesus!

I don't know. But the fact that two whole days seem to be set aside for transport evidence from Lewes District Council and the Toads Hole Valley owners suggests to me that they haven't reached any meaningful agreement and that we won't see the Statement of Common Ground that the Inspector was hoping for.

It is only their transport evidence (and the evidence of the previously missing THV "transport expert") that is yet to be given.

Presumably the Inspector has been using the last few weeks to work on his Report. But he'll still have more work to do if there is serious disagreement between the parties on the transport issues. And he has always said that the Closing Submissions are a very important element in the Inquiry.

My guess, though, is that he might be able to get his report completed by mid-May (or shortly after). It then goes to the ODPM's Planning Directorate for them to draw their own conclusions and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State. And then we get the decision.

IF the Inspector concludes that there is NO alternative suitable site available, I would think it would be a fairly straightforward (and speedy) decision in favour of Falmer.

If the conclusion is that one (or more) alternative site might be suitable and available, the process could be fairly drawn out - possibly with the Albion and the City Council being drawn into yet more correspondence with the ODPM's advisors - and it could be months before we get a decision.

And remember ... the only decision that the Secretary of State is being asked to make is a YES or NO to Falmer. If alternative sites pop into the frame, it would be for the Albion to decide whether to submit a new planning application to the City Council.

Sorry to sound a bit pessimistic but after reading that I reckon I'm going to be dead by the time we get falmer. I'm only 19 :( :(

As the final day is at the Brighton Centre, should we not turn out in force as a final reminder to politicians before the election?

Indeed we should ... the final day is set aside for the Closing Submissions by the two main supporters of Falmer, the City Council and the Football Club.

Be there and hear the case summarised and make your own assessment of all the key issues. Those of us who have been regulars at the Inquiry are looking forward to a comprehensive demolition of the NIMBYs by Mary Macpherson and Jonathan Clay.

If you can only get to one session of the Inquiry, make it this one.
