Hi folks

Just taken over an hour to get down Handcross Hill, looks like there is a hole that has appeared in the outside lane, so they have limited it to 1 lane.

I advise if you are coming south, take the horsham road and come down the a24

When I came up the A23 this morning I got to the 40mph zone going North towards Handcross about 07:00 and there must have been about 15 emergency vehicles on the Southbound side parked up where it used to open up back into 3 lanes and I passed a few more who were still coming south to join them as I carried on north.

Anyone know what this was to do with? Can't imagine it took them til 14:00 to find the hole?!

I think they are going to resurface the handcross stretch tonight in both directions and not a moment too soon! it has fallen apart in the last few months.

I know its a fair size project but nothing ever seems to be happening. Months into it and they seem to have dug the bank away, put in a tiny section of temporary road and done a bit of work on the bridge.

I assume the government only release money slowly to pay for it? The only things working flat out up there are the speed cameras!

Somebody dialled 999 to say he'd crashed his car into a ditch in that area and was trapped, so all the emergency services were dispatched. They were going up and down in the dark & rain, in cars & on foot, trying to find the car.

Eventually transpires he's about five or six miles further north, nowhere near Handcross really, his car hidden amongst the trees.
