We fancy a jaunt out to the country at the weekend. Does anyone know any pubs in East Sussex with a children's play area (and obviously one that serves decent beer)?

I know The Laughing Fish at Isfield has, but we've been there and wanted something different.

technically it's part of the pub.

So what you are saying is that people with kids cannot go out on a sunday for example and enjoy a nice family meal/drink.............or just let people choose pubs that do not allow kids in if that is what they prefer.......it is called choice you know.:wanker:

I passed one in Lewes Road this afternoon (used to be the Lectern I think) with school kids clambering over the tables and a buggies parked up , whilst the Coombe Road Mums sunk a Rose or 3!

The Lectern is normally full of students (and I think it's still called The Lectern). It's scarcely a country pub though.

Thanks for the suggestions - there's some more to check out but I think the Berwick sounds the business.

Sorry it was The Franklin!

Ditchling, I think it's called the white somethingorother but maybe not - can't miss it it's on the corner. Enclosed garden with bush surrounds, benches and tables on the grass. Lovely.

Shepherd and Dog in Fulking isn't bad, little stream from a spring that bubbles onto the road, adequate garden backs onto the side of the Downs
