Maybe the new owners aren't football fans. So they changed it from the Le Tiss Arm's (Legs). Maybe they are related to the owner of The Swan at Falmer. So many choices!
I always used to drive past in a hurry when it was the Le Tiss.

Where are most peeps going? A few chaps, inc me, are heading to the Crown in Shirley Road, not too far but far enough for a few liveners without too much grief we hope.....

Err, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time, but not sure if you realise that Shirley High St is also known as the 'Mutant Mile' for very good reasons!

Despite living no more than 5 or so minutes from there, I've never been it. All the pubs round there used to be rough as f***. The Crown was called Tramways then, but from what I've heard it's at least made an effort now. The Manor opposite on the corner of Park St is still a turf with glitter and polish on it. Avoid the Windsor Castle.

There are 'better' ones further down the mile towards town. The Spoons is ok and the Rover has several beers and tonnes of Belgian ones. Off the MM in Freemantle is the Park Inn and the Wellington on Park ROAD, not St. There is also the Waterloo Arms on Waterloo Rd which is beard and ale paradise!

Has anybody been in this joint? 10 mins stagger from the stadium & apparently away-supporter 'friendly'. Could do a job??

All been agreed, but 'hey ho' could be just the one there then! Still, might bring back some memories.......

According to my Away Supporters pub guide, its either...
- The Shepherds Crook, which is a ten minute walk from the train station and the closest to the away end, however it adopts a Home-Fans Only Policy after the games, it offers a beer garden and good food menu, "Three deep at the bar"
Or...
- The Good Companion, which is best for fans driving to the game, includes a beer garden, with pub grub.

Personally I like option One, The Shepherds Crook

About 400 yards down that road is Shamrock Quay, which has a pub called (imaginatively enough) The Waterfront.

Stll in staggering distance from St Marys

Much obliged Mr H: I think we have ourselves a watering hole.
