OK, some of the value's gone from a couple of weeks ago when he was EVENS, but the easiest way to a fifty percent return on your investment in the history of Christendom is to back Lewis Hamilton to win BBC Sports Personality Of The Year 2007.

As the odds below suggest, it would take Andy Murray to win Wimbledon AND discover a cure for cancer for Hamilton not to win this. Simple tap-in, and anybody who says otherwise is a VERY close relative of Uncle Spielberg.

GET on XXX LARGE!

I reckon that's 1/2 that a British golfer doesn't win a major (with 3 left) and Murray doesn't win Wimbeldon. A reasonable bet but hardly value and get rich quick. Still, the best Hamilton bet I've had is 5/6 that he scores more points than Jenson Button this season. Currently he is 38-0 in front. :)

Two words: Darren Clarke

Chap I know was on Darren Clarke bigtime last year. Kept drip-feeding cash onto him at ever shortening odds. By the time SPOTY aired he was on to the tune of £8k. He couldn't fail to win, could he?

The same chap, bless him, saw the value in Lewis Hamilton before the F1 season had even started and has, I believe, around £200 at an average 25/1 on the young chap.

Lightning never strikes twice, does it?

Disagree. Hamilton's got the media buzz about him, more than any golfer could ever generate from here on in. Murray is the only semi-serious challenger anywhere on the horizon and he's currently got his wrist in plaster and may not even contest Wimbledon. The only each way possibility is that Frankie Dettori wins the Derby on the favourite Authorized. But even then, the Derby's not the pull it once was, and Frankie's been around a long time now.

Nah, Hamilton by a country MILE

wont take much for hamilton to disappear though, a few no finishes and rare points then thats him gone. Murray wont make wimbledon BUT if he does and wins it then thats him in the bag. I might go outside with Monty Panesar, a good year full of wickets and hes got to be up there, but if Hamilton stays in touch with Alonso then its him all over.
