Yes that's what I meant - they are "stopping us from using other hardware", hence me saying "don't use shitty Amazon video".
They annoyingly also took Chromecast away from Amazon store. Quite frankly, their argument with Google is ridiculous. And yes, Amazon video, is mostly crap although it's allowing me to catch up, eventually, on the walking dead, which I like.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Roku-3500E...80850901&sr=1-1&keywords=roku+streaming+stick Currently less than half price with Amazon

The Roku stick would be the easiest and has everything you need. You could get a now tv box as well and sideload Netflix onto it, or even a kodi box.
But for ease of use with no messing about then the roku stick is pretty good, more information here https://www.roku.com/en-gb/

The words nail and head, spring to mind.

I've been playing around with it for half and hour, or so, and am very impressed.

This really is a top bit of idiot proof kit.
Thanks for the advise Swillis

I'm a bit late to this party but you could wait for a couple of weeks. Come January I would wager there'll be a whole bunch of PS3s available second-hand as well as some standard edition PS4s.
Oh yeah, I initially was wondering if there was anything out there that did the same TV conduit job better and cheaper, while being ideal for techphobics like me (& BG)

It turns out the answer is a resounding yes.
