Proud to be gay

Do gay bars actually exist, or just bars that gay people happen to frequent?

This. Even if they still do, why do they? Being gay, straight, blue or backwards should not define anyone. It's a part of what makes them who they are, not the defining feature. The bar owner has done no favours to anyone with his response.

As the email cited "Religion" he could have been referring to Muslims in his party...

For 'most' christians it's also taboo, from Leviticus:
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

Many churches in Brighton preach gay being evil.

I don't know about "most" Christians. There's all sorts of crazy shit in the Old Testament and most of it is ignored.

Think it's massive over reaction that response. And a bit rude. Playing the homophobic card before being aware of whether there was any malice in the email - it could well have just been some religious reasons - who knows?!

Noticed that you didn't change the 'load of old bollocks' part.

It's just an over-reaction to someone asking a stupid question. The guy from the car company might have some employees who don't want to go to a gay bar. Fine. In that case, don't invite them if they're that stupid. **** em.

But for the owner to reply to his email in such a way then go running to twitter to show everyone how big and clever he is just doesn't sit right with me.

It's not a 'gay bar', you idiot, but clearly some homophobic tw4t thinks that because the name 'Proud' sounds like 'Pride' then it must be.

I have read the article, and understand that Proud isn't a "gay bar". The initial email was sent by someone who had been misinformed and was just asking for clarification, as some of his staff had "issues". My responses were in relation to these "issues". Go light some candles, grab a box of chocolates and have a nice warm bath, you've obviously had a hard day.

Surely the people who would have an issue going to a bar that may have homosexuals in are the ones that are rude?

I think they both are. There's no garuntee of what had been said amongst the employees - they may have just been trying to find out if it's a gay bar or not just so they know what to expect who knows?

Is it ok if my candles smell of vanilla? I have four of them.
