It's happening the world over. So many western countries seeing a worrying rise in populism and the emboldened far right. Only have to look at the States and recent voting in the European elections to see that. Its fortunate that, up to now, we haven't seen a significant rise in far right voting comparatively, but I also suspect that none or very few of those who are rioting at the moment actually got off their arses to vote last month

My interpretation is one bigot's joke doesn't grasp the gravity and febrility of what is enveloping Britain.

Far right won't be there as they'll be outnumbered. That's not a dig BTW. It's the locals looking after their community.

The last time I turned up at an 'anti' demo in brighton the NF had about 80, equally split between spotty gawky teenagers and overweight bald 30+ years olds (how does that happen ?) 50% of which went on to be charged with paedophile offences, and they stayed at the station on account of the 4000+ antis.

I'm expecting much the same wednesday (obviously hopefully without the paedophile offences). My big worry is should we book a table for 8 or 8.30

Depends whether you count voting reform as far right voting. I suspect most of the rioters voted reform and (i hate to say this but…) feel aggrieved how few seats (despite millions of votes) they got in parliament whilst labour got a massive majority with only c 1/3 of the votes.
At some point we are going to have to look hard at why so many people are so aggrieved throughout democratic societies.

It’s an uncomfortable thought right now but people do not riot or counter protest when broadly happy with the society in which they live.

Respectful and peaceful demonstrations by any denominations I don't have any issues with. Once they start attacking the Police, fireman and destroying people's livelihoods by smashing up/ looting shops, cars, buses etc they deserve everything coming their way.
Trouble is the prison system can't cope with the sudden influx and fining them probably won't help as many won't have jobs

Good to see the good people of Britain don’t have sympathy for the bell ends. Around half think sentencing should be harsher and around 1 in 25 think should be more lenient. I suspect that gives us the proportion who think the riots are not riots just peaceful protestors. Not too dissimilar to the proportion who think the planet is flat.

It’s battle of the pictures out there currently. Pictures of Muslims attacking police in some papers. Others using pictures of white yobs attacking police. All battling to control the narrative and influence people’s views.

When you have finished laughing, to offer you a little perspective, in Tamworth out of control thugs, were aiming to do serious harm to asylum seekers in the hotel they attacked. The asylum seekers were in fear for their lives.

What has happened over the last week with these so called protests can probably be summed up with the reaction of this incredibly stupid woman from Sunderland. She came out of a pub at closing time, very drunk and very angry. She chose to get involved in attacking police by pushing a bin at police lines. She probably thought that was hilarious and so did the rest of the numpties around.

Well, she got the early morning knock on the door, was arrested and charged, appeared in court this morning and was remanded in custody until September. I wonder if she thinks it’s all hilarious now?

Rinse and repeat for every other twat up and down the country who have done the same thing. Act in haste, repent at leisure - or rather, at His Majesty’s Pleasure.
