You're really reaching. That article is deeply flawed. The idea that pre-brexit migration is comparable to post-brexit is laughable.
I wasn't referencing any article. You can argue some aspects of immigration are negative, but not its overall impact on economy growth, in that area it is beneficial. Its just a fact.

reality ...?? the situation..?? the figures on some of these graphics are highly questionable , for instance a graphic above displays that currently only 25% of the population of the country were not born in the UK , i find that quite hard to believe as i do the graphic that displays the number of people living in a single dwelling by ethnicity , you can do a lot with averages.
Whilst i do not agree with your comments about these immigrant flats, I admire your principled position to refuse to work on them.....you have refused I take it?

I think your hyperthetical family will need to have lived in the UK for 5 years before they get housing benefit.

Isn't there also a NHS surcharge for people who haven't been in the UK long enough?

I love the idea that a troy government who forced austerity on everyone while enjoying tax cuts for them and their friends werr inexplicable throwing money at the foreigners they were demonising for votes. 😂

Apart from that though the figures usually show that migration is a net benefit for the UK's finances. I doubt this has changed but happy to be corrected with evidence.
had a big gang of Lebanese , Turkish , Macedonian plasterers on site today .....i popped in around 10.30 when they are having their lunch , was having a chat about the start of the season coming up , one of them said
' why do the English and the Irish hate each other so much ?' this guy in particular was 38 , i know this because i asked him if he's ever heard of the IRA , he hadn't ...im was amazed to be honest , after a brief explanation i asked him about ISIS , he said that i they are despised by normal muslims but used to come to the poor villages with huge bags of money , give baksheesh to local families , basically buy their young kids off them but let them keep them at home until they were needed to "act"....these people are impoverished and the money given by ISIS bought clothes , medicine and education ( where possible ) , this practice was rife throughout Asia and the Middle East and even the Balkans after the war ........

it's no use mate ....they are incapable of a cognitive , receptive , two way conversation ....know everything because they read it on a government website , have absolutely no interaction with any boat people whatsoever , i'm using boat people here because that is what the issue is here not immigrants from Cyprus , Italy , Greece ,Spain, Portugal , Denmark or Bulgaria who have jobs and are not a massive burden on the country

I’ll have you know I’m as middle of the road as a centre parting on Terry Wogan. 🤨

Thank you though, so many seem completely unconcerned/unaffected that I do periodically think “it’s only me seeing this.”
depends what you're seeing , there is definitely a large agenda being propagated here , there are a few different protagonists being put forward .

Some tweets, as yet unverified, saying a man of Asian descent jumped on the attacker and disarmed him. I hope to good this is true whatever the colour of the assailant.

There did seem to be a bit of an ignorance about English and Irish when I lived in Sydney. I told a colleague I was sharing a house with some Irish girls and this seem puzzling to him as he thought we didn't get on.

I hatched a plan with an Irish colleague....

We both arrived outside another office (Kent or Sussex Street, somewhere like that) and staged a mock nationalistic argument. Folk began to stop and watch. It was only after we couldn't keep a straight face that they realised they'd been had.

In the Sky News article they referenced his name, Abdullah, repeatedly.

Can't imagine they'd have done that if it was Bob.

one shot dead in east london , 3 teens shot in orpington ....the 2 stabbings you have mentioned and one in bethnal green ....this is what the BBC is showing me.
If you scroll down and click on the tab labelled "London Violence", you mean?
And it isn't all today's news.
Murder rate in UK v Aus is higher, but it seems aussie blokes kill their wives and kids much more than we do.

Is your point that you have to go looking for such violence to find articles about it? Is it not absolute madness that there’s a “London Violence” tab at all!

It’s so out of control that 2 shootings and 2 stabbings don’t even make headline news anymore. I’ll say it again, it’s utterly out of control

You are right that things are bad and may even be out of control. But the OP I was responding to seemed to conflate the Leicester Square attack with the others he mentioned. This thread is specifically about the riots which were provoked by racial prejudices and the hope was that it wouldn't be related in any way to those and that it wouldn't be able to be used by the vile people who were (already) spouting bile on social media. If it is unconnected then it isn't part of the discussion here but more so part of a wider discussion on general UK crime.
