I really do not understand what the fear is regarding immigration and immigrants.

We have a shortage of people, slower than required birth rate an older generation living much longer.

We the English for years been saying we have no cultural identity and that Christianity is decreasing year on year well maybe we should all take up morris dancing on a Sunday after the church service or just embrace multiculturalism and enjoy the ride

If by the above your referring to the suggestion the cabbie had considered ’central locking’ the lad and driving him to the Police station, two things spring to mind, are there cars that you can lock (apart from London style cabs) that can’t be opened from the inside vial the door leaver and more importantly the cabbie if he was able to do this is opening himself to a ‘False imprisonment’ charge

Young people couldn't wait to get out and stay out of our country and we couldn't attract anyone with any skill or aspiration. We'd be like a larger version of Croydon!

But seriously, our nation would be properly screwed

The fact that people want to come here shows that actually as a nation we aren't in a terrible place and we're doing something right

And pensions. Many older people think that the money they have put in is in some vault somewhere waiting for them. Nope. It's been spent. But the good news is that there is a young generation paying taxes who can pay for it. But there aren't enough to pay for all you lingering oldies. So if there are young trying to get in, the old really should be welcoming them with open arms

Of course people want to come here. Compared to many other countries it's not too bad a place. HOWEVER there are far far too many people "coming here". The numbers need to be properly controlled and the British Government needs to be making the decisions about who can come here and who can't, even though they haven't been doing a very good job of that recently.
