Never said he was bad, far from it, he's our most missed midfielder when out of the team. Still however, TO ME, it's a joke to compare him to the two Silvas (one of whom is the captain of the current title holders) that caused me to guffaw when I read it.
As for Grealish, he is still unconvincing and over hyped - he is anonymous in many games. However, if Villa wanted to swap him for Propper then would do so in a heartbeat. £60m? Yes, a joke, we wouldn't get a bid near half that. As funny as Zaha , yours for £80m...

We’ll find out more against Watford.

If he runs the game from start to finish and we win, the glowing posts in the thread are spot on.

If he’s outclassed and we fail to win, it’s all the fault of Stephens, Gross, Mooy, Maupay, take your pick.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Propper's new deal takes him up until he is 31, which is how old Stephens will be next summer when his current contract runs out.

Will we be offering Dale an extension?

Fair enough. Misunderstood you there. It just looked like a dig at him using the words 'hysterica'l in relation to someone seeing him with top class ability. Had it been someone like Stephens or Maupay being compared, then yes, I suppose using the Hysterical word would be seen as fair enough (not that I would choose to do that) , but Propper? just after the way he played last weekend and then being given a new contract? No need.

The way he played against us at Villa park had me drooling. Not often do England produce these sort of players. Typical that he's not getting as rated as he should. Similar happened to Le Tissier, Waddle and Hoddle. When will we learn?

Why will we find out more in the Watford game than in all the others he has played for us?

Mate, Propper is a good player no doubt, but he's miles and miles behind the others you listed. He's got, what.... 2 goals and about 3 assists in two and a half years for a start.

I blame the team as much as Propper for that. We've been generally very inconsistent this season. One game we're excellent then the next we look like relegation fodder. Propper needs to be surrounded by better players cvpvble of playing better football for his game to flourish. I can't wait to see this new Argentinian lad playing alongside him. This may be the difference with inconsistency you mention.

Perhaps and what you say is perfectly reasonable, but that is potential, my point was the actual comparison to the players mentioned and valuation.....

My god, when you look back at those three and see how underrated and poorly used (at International level) they were it's truly shocking. We had the talent.

Reminds me (well, not really, it's a poor comparison but anyway) of watching Case on his return walking around the midfield bossing the game. Or Foster on his return to us, stopping the opposition's attack just by great anticipation and interception. Too old men oozing class and a young me thinking these guys must have been something when they were in their prime.

Given the choice, I would swap Propper for Grealish in a heartbeat. Thats not because I don't rate Propper, but Grealish is simply on another level.

Something about Grealish gets on my male mammary glands. Don't know if it's the hair, his Zaha-esque turf magnet syndrome, stupid socks around the ankle or that he comes across as a prima donna brummy thicko.

Either way I think he'd fail the 'no dickheads' policy.

Definitely the socks for me. He's no Frank Worthington. Maybe if he develops further (but he's 24 not 19) he can do so but not now matey, you're not there yet.

Waddle got 62 caps. I rated him, but like Barnes he was despised at the time by the England boo boys and much of the football public. I worked with a large number of ManU and Albion fans at the time, who were Wembley regulars. Boy they hated Waddle with a passion “W*anker Waddle” their expression, “drops the shoulder, with no end product for England”.

I loved Beardsley, Gazza, Barnes, Steven. Hodge and Waddle playing for England, a great era imho.

a French bloke I know tells me Waddle and Hoddle are regarded up there with the best there's been with who's played in the French top flight. They find it strange that we don't rate them as highly as the french do considering how much better the French have been at international level. I put it down to our lack of appreciation of on the ball imagination which we heavily whinge and moan about if it doesn't come off like you mentioned with Waddle's criticism.
Notice how loud the applause is for the easy, boring, safe back pass is in this country compared to someone taking a risk and it coming off. IT's as if no one wants to be entertained in this country. Webster is a fine example (sorry for bringing this debate up). He's being encouraged to play further up the pitch to contribute to a more fluid, foreign style of play Potter is trying to implement. The mistakes are more likely for any defender playing this role, and notice how hard we criticise him for his errors instead of seeing the ability required to play this difficult/risky role.

No wonder we never win anything at International level

The only thing that gets on MY mammary glands about him is that he keeps cuffing SCORING against us. Get him in our XI and that fixes that problem at least.

I'd love to have him at BHA, but sadly he is big 6 bound at some point. If Villa are relegated, he's gone.

I remember Waddle starring for Marseille in the European Cup, he was as good as any continental ‘game changer’ on their books. He played against the brilliant Maldini and Baresi several times and always shined.

He took that well, though I reckon he was being a bit greedy in not playing it back to the man who headed it to him.

Yeah it looks good what he's doing in those clips but he's clearly not putting in any effort. He's making it look far too easy for my liking. That's not what he's payed to do. Give me a brave work horse any day.

Nah, not having that. All players make mistakes, he's got plenty of credit in the bank to make up for the odd howler.
As a former banker there are debits and credits. He is is still in the red.

As an aside, we once tried to swap Neil McNab with Chris Waddle. Newcastle were all for it but Waddle rejected it. Sauce, Mr Waddle himself when I met him at a charity football game. Very down to earth guy.
