It nearly went horribly wrong in the first half though, on more than one occassion. I actually found myself shouting "JUST f***ing HOOF THE THING!" a few times when Casper and El-Abd were mucking around

Communication seemed to be a big issue-saw someone (possibly el-abd) having a go at the rest of the defence and casper for not talking more to let him know there was a man on, am I the only one that thinks Casper has a really problem with lack on communication? On the whole I thought he was better today.

Played some good teams already(look at Wednesday's and Rochdale's results today).
Lovely passing football played mostly on the deck with some great link up play this afternoon, would've taken 7 points when the fixture came out,Sparrow and Greer to come back,2-3 more additions and We should make the play-off's comfortably.

I havent been to a game this season but saw most at home last. I noticed you could hear michel clearly shouting and talking to his defense a lot of the time. Is this the same with casper?

Difference with Michel was invariably his shouting would amount to something along the lines of "head it! kick it!" or "AWAAY!", pretty much summing up our style of play at that time. Casper wasn't too quiet to be fair, just looked a bit unsure of himself.

Totally agree with the OP, such a good feeling to watch proper passing football. I know this league has it's cloggers and hoofers who get success by bulldozing there way to the top but for me it's once again a pleasure to watch good football, even if it gives you a few heart attacks along the way. Give me a pass and move 2-1 win than a load of hoofs bypassing midfield to a 3-0 win anyday of the week.

He has not built up any relationship with the defence at all, Painter and him nearly came to grief in the 2nd half.

Found the passing football most exellent today, its nice not see the keeper not just welly up field every time we have come such a long way since mr slade???

to be honest i dont think there is any progress at all, keeper going long, unable to retain the ball, when we have time to think we look clueless,my initial post was sarcasm but it backfired due to the hysteria that is poyet can do no wrong,7th in the league super, quality of performance shocking:facepalm:

Would agree that the players need to start calling it more. Painter was shouting at Elphick and El-Abd as he was nearly caught in possession as there wasn't any calls that he had a player behind him.

Football at times is good but it is clear that we need Sparrow and a leader at the back like Greer.

Without them we are getting by.

With them back and 2 signings then you should see massive progress. As it stands the points return is alright but performance wise we huffed n puffed for large periods.

At half time it was anyones game. A better team and I suspect we would of been facing an uphill battle second half.

Positives there though and kets hope and pray for some good news before Tue

Yes, Ankegren isn't great, I'll give you that but within a couple of weeks we'll have Brezovan back. Brilliant #1 back in business (keeper problems sorted)

Let's not forget, this is the first month of the new season, not everything will go to plan within a click of our fingers. Poyet has got a plan and will stick to it.

Soon enough we won't be "clueless" as you suggest but we won't ALWAYS get results we want though; we will also get more results in our favour than in previous seasons :)

I often used to here kuipers shout man on or mine to his defence and I didn't hear casper once the whole half he was in front of us. The defence clearly don't trust him/either that or its back to he is not calling to let them know he is coming for a ball and that is why they still go for it.
I don't know anything about the other goalie (baz....-sorry can't spell again). How long is he out for? Will he be much better?
