Petition to: resign. | Number10.gov.uk
A petition calling for Gordon Brown to resign has become the most-popular
campaign on the Prime Minister's website.
The "Please Go" campaign has received more than 31,000 signatures on
Downing Street's e-petitions site.
It has knocked a petition about the Royal National Lifeboat Institution
(RNLI) into second place.
Academic Kalvis Jansons, who describes himself as a disillusioned Labour
voter, began the petition in October.
But recent support from blogs has caused a surge in the numbers signing up.
Conservative blogger Iain Dale this week predicted it will "mushroom and
get a six-figure sum".
A petition calling on Mr Brown to remain in office has attracted 32
signatures on the site, including a host of comedy fake names and one
person claiming to be called "Gordon Brown".
