TEAM NEWS

Preston are sweating on the fitness of goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard and defender Marnick Vermijl ahead of the televised Lancashire derby with Burnley.
On-loan stopper Lindegaard was withdrawn at half-time in the 2-2 draw with Birmingham in midweek while Vermijl had been forced off even earlier due to a kick on the top of his foot.
North End manager Simon Grayson will give both players until the last minute to prove their fitness, with 34-year-old Chris Kirkland, who came close to joining the Clarets in the summer, ready to fill in between the sticks.
Calum Woods (calf) should be back to deputise for Vermijl if needed yet Chris Humphrey (shin), Liam Grimshaw and Stevie May (both knee) are still out.

James Tarkowski should be back in the Burnley squad that travels to Deepdale.
The centre-back was not on the bench for the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough having suffered a groin strain in training on Monday, but Sean Dyche is confident he can make the short trip.
Tarkowski is unlikely to break into a starting line-up which will likely be unchanged after Joey Barton and Sam Vokes shook off problems to feature against Boro.
Lukas Jutkiewicz (knee) played 90 minutes for the development squad in midweek but will need a few more fixtures at that level before being considered for the senior team.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTER

-----

Each of the final 3 games earns a 5-Star banner.

Aside from our own tomorrow, possibly the most important game affecting Brighton & Hove Albion in it's entire history up to this point.
Others may fairly argue that games back in 1997 were just as important at the other end of the professional football leagues.

Come on Preston!

A draw is better than nothing, but it does not really do us many favours.

SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP- Today
Preston v Burnley
Burnley 21/20
Draw 23/10
Preston 3/1

So Burnley won't go out gung-ho for a winner. Probably play it patiently and take the lead in 1-0 in the second half, as a draw would not be fatal for them. I can't see Burnley getting three or more.

A draw does us a massive favour potentially if Burnley fail to then beat QPR.

0-0, to the Preston Boys, 0-0! :albion2:

Preston bored their way to a 0-0 draw at the Amex earlier in the season, I believe they can bore their way to another tonight. They've lost Pickford in goal though, which is a worry.

Isn't a draw really great?

Burnley Draw (and win the 2 remaining):
BHA need 7 points + an extra 5 goals scored over 3 games = tough ask.

Burnley Lose (and win the 2 remaining):
BHA need 6 points + an extra 4(?) goals scored over 3 games = tough ask.
BHA need 7 points with no goal requirement to go up.

Clearly a draw is great, however it doesn't change too much.
We need to either win everything, or Burnley/'Boro to lose in order to give us a real advantage.

- Happy to be corrected?

A draw means Boro could already be promoted by the time we play them. Not sure whether that's a good thing though, realistically whatever the result tonight, we're going to have to go to Boro needing a result, be it a draw or a win.

Burnley draw tonight - Burnley 85, us 84

We beat Charlton tomorrow - Us 87, Burnley 85

We beat Derby on May 2nd - Us 90, Burnley 85

Burnley fail to beat QPR - Us 90, Burnley 85 or 86

We are promoted before Boro match

Unlikely I know, but would still take a draw tonight.

No, it doesn't really. Unless we make up the goal difference swing, or Burnley then drop points v QPR/Charlton.

As the goal difference stands: If Burnley win, we need 9 points to guarantee promotion. If Burnley draw, we need 9 points to guarantee promotion. If Burnley lose, we need 7.

It does us a massive favour. Means boro can be promoted before playing us which is absolutely MASSIVE.

Exactly that, how is it possible without having spent several hours in the pub, to imagine that a draw for Burnley is as good as a win for them. If they only draw tonight they can't afford to slip up in there final two games. Or alternately we win all our three, (on current breathtaking form not without a possibility), they are sunk.....and Barton's gone for a burton!

I completely agree that a draw is nowhere near as good as a win for them. I don't think anyone's saying otherwise. It hugely hits their chance of promotion. But most of the other side of that goes to increasing Middlesbrough's chance; nowhere near as much of it goes to ours.

As you say, unlikely, so I'd rather hope for a Preston win than take a draw.
