I won £1000 once. Won a load of £25, probably averaging 1 a month.

They’re not a great return in comparison to current savings rates though, just about worthwhile as you don’t pay tax on the returns.

They're a very low risk, very low return investment - As others have mentioned, a bit of fun! I think I've got about £16k, never won more than a £100 but heyho, maybe I'm about to win big!!

Seems I’m an outlier then as having £5k’s worth for the last 12 months I haven’t won a thing. I’ve withdrawn and put into a 1 year fixed bond attracts £230 in interest

I’m assuming those that “usually” win have the full allowance invested?

Usually win about £1200 per year on £50k investment, which was (still is?) more than regular interest with fairly quick/no charge for withdrawing elsewhere.

£100 biggest, which was in January, £75 February but nothing since. We’ve had it for quite a few years now. Can’t even remember what we put in originally, I think it was £5000, as long term savings. It must be worth over £7K now. I always check hoping it might be a big win but never is, although nice when it’s any prize. I think it’s a good way to save and a bit more fun than say an ISA.

Have got the maximum holding, so obviously increased chance of winning something.

Usually win £25-50 most months, but in April I won £350 and in May £275. This month £50.

I love the sense of anticipation on the 2nd working day of each month when I log-on to check if I (and Mrs Peteinblack) have won anything.

Usually 500 to 700 quid return each year. Easy way to centralize any savings and always a chance of something decent win wise.

You can get 4% on instant access at the moment. This would be 2K, although with 40% tax that equates to 1.2K if you’ve already used your £500 allowance.

We have also noticed the amount we win is increasing. Used to be the odd £25/50 every month or so now its almost every month and the last 3 draws we have won £400.

We have quite a few, and are enjoying better than par ‘luck’. 4.4% in 2022, and 4.7% so far this year.

I won £50 in 1986, I was 8 years old at the time and it felt like I'd won thousands. I bought myself a Transformer and squirreled the rest away.
