It really as tight as gnat's CHUFF down there:

09 Sunderland 30 -4 38
10 Stoke 30 -2 37
11 Newcastle 30 -1 36
12 Fulham 30 0 35
13 Blackburn 30 -12 33
14 Aston Villa 30 -14 33
15 Blackpool 30 -15 33
16 West Brom 30 -15 33
17 West Ham 30 -13 32
18 Wolves 30 -14 32
19 Birmingham 29 -13 31
20 Wigan 30 -22 30

Who do you think looks like dropping? Personally I think Sunderland and Stoke are the only teams above that I'm sure won't be relegated, but it's wide open for the rest.

Personally I think Wigan will go, along with Blackpool and one of either Aston Villa or West Brom.

It is going to be a sensational end to the season down the bottom. You would be a fool to predict who goes down but I do know there will be plenty of twists and turns yet.

Bet365 odds :-

Wigan 2/5
Blackpool 6/5
Birmingham 13/8
West Brom 7/4
Wolverhampton 7/4
West Ham 7/4
Blackburn 2/1
Aston Villa 13/2
Fulham 12/1
Newcastle 12/1
Stoke 25/1
Sunderland 100/1

I spoke to a couple of Wigan fans at WNW on saturday and they seemed resigned to their fate. As for the rest I'd really want to see what their run-ins are like.

Agree, tis very difficult to call. I'd go along with Wigan, they don't seem to have enough about them really. Would like to see West Ham down, have never forgiven them for the Tevez affair, but I think they'll survive now. If I was to put money on it (which I won't), I'd go for Wigan, Wolves and Backpool - which would be quite sad in the case if Wolves (I like McCarthy) and Blackpool (for entertainment value).

the relegation battle is the one entertaining thing about the premier league

can see wigan going, blackburn could struggle with kean in charge. cant really pick a third - id like to think it will be west ham though

Hmm not quite sure coz whilst it was "cheating" Sheff Utd have only themselves to blame as they went on a winless streak. They could have stayed up quite comfortably but f***ed themselves up.

Of course it was cheating FFS.

Or is it everybody else's fault that Portsmouth won the FA Cup 2 years ago? You know, for not winning all their matches, unlike the massive club under 'Arry and their bare bones squad (on 200k a week)?

My point is Sim that if Sheff Utd beat Wigan AT HOME on the last day of the season they would have stayed up. Their destiny was in their own hands.

Blackburn to go down at 2/1 looks quite generous.

If you're looking for value then Villa at 13/2 knocks that into a cocked hat. Lots of big-name players - Young, Agbonlahor, Downing - must be thinking "get me out of here" - are they going to throw themselves around and risk injury in a relegation dogfight?

Also, Villa have no recent experience of such a dogfight, whereas Wolves, Wigan, West Ham know all about it, AND their last 2 matches are Arsenal and Liverpool.

Doesn't work as a wind up as what you've said is pretty much true.

They also had a third party ownership thing, Martin Samuel has mentioned it several times. They had sold a player to, I think, watford, and he wasn't allowed to play against them, it was confirmed on the sheffield utd website, then taken down.

They also did a wolves/blackpool and fielded a weak team against utd.

That season west ham won more points without Tevez than they did with him, yet the tribunal decided that if he was out of the team all season, west ham would win fewer points, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
