Do you agree the best players in the world play in Europe?

Odd that we'll have four South American teams in the semi-finals, no?

Today the papers are reporting that both Inter and AC have approached Joe Cole and that Real Madrid are interested in Ashley Cole and Stephen Gerrard.

Hopefully a few English players abroad may up the standard of the national team.

What about judging how good the prem is by the record of our clubs in the Champions League, the pinnacle of football. I don't think we've done too bad in that the last few, infact we've dominated it most recent years, look at the semi final line ups!

The Premier League has the most strength in depth in Europe, La Liga has Barca, Real who are amazing (due to separate tv deal finance) and a few others who are very good (Valencia, Sevilla) and the Bundeslegia and Serie A are just below this with only one outstanding team each, namely Bayern and Inter.

Leave the premiership alone!!! It is not overated and the record in the Champions League proves my point.

Always thought you were one othe clever ones.

Uruguay - Forlan and Suarez both play in Europe (easliy their best two players)

Brazil - Kaka, Lucio, Fabiano, Maicon, Dani Alves, Melo, Silva, Bastos, Juan, Cesar etc

Argentina - Tevez, Messi, Higuain, Aguero, Milito, Heinze, Mascherano, Maxi Rodrigues etc

Paraguay - Over half the team that started against Japan play their football in Europe.

Thanks for helping me prove my point. Theres no doubt that there are quality players outside Europe, but the best of the best tend to play where the money is. Europe do have the best leagues, the best players and you cant argue with the Premier Leagues record in the European competitions in recent years (again excluding last years champions league).

i raised this point of which premier league players have done well and only Tevez stands out.. remember robinho has had a 6 month loan at Santos

interesting stats - only 16 goals by premier league players

only Tevez has more then one

and only 7 goals by players of the 'big four'

I argee with the statement that the premier league isnt the best league in the world and cant wait for league one to start. To be honest i prefer the championship over the premier league.

Apart from Barca and Mardrid, the Spanish League is pretty poor.

Although the top two were miles clear this season, that has not often been the case, and the teams in the other 2 CL spots change on a regular basis. I find that has made La Liga far more watchable than the Premiership for years now ..... although I did find last season pretty dull with Real and Barca so far clear.

An English team has won it twice in the last 6 seasons! When you consider that this is the first season that there hasn't been an English club in the final since 2004 (I think), you've got to admit that the premier league has a consistently strong showing in the champions league (which is arguably the world's most prestigious club competition).

All the top players in The World want to play in The Premier League, so The World Cup is really just a shop window for The Premier League. It follows that those players who already play in The Premier League are not so highly motivated as those who do not and hence perform worse. When The World Cup is finished we can expect all the top players to be joining Premier League teams. I expect that some players that have played well in The World Cup but have previously failed in The Premier League, like Xavi Alonso and Diego Forlan may be offered a second chance, but not with a top four club but perhaps with Blackburn or Birmingham.

I agree with this massive passionate crowds, affordable prices, great stadia, competitive football, a league designed for fans who turn up to watch, may not have the top players but does that matter? I want to watch my football at the ground not on TV and The Bundesliga seems to provide what the fans want, just look at the attendances.

shhh, i've been trying to tell people this for a while now. typical english mentality, though, most people refuse to believe the germans do football better than us on near enough every level because they can't bear the thought of the old enemy being better than us.
