What do you think the Premier League will do ?

Declare the season null and void and start again next season

or

Current positions stand (with some sort of fudge for games in hand - 1-1 draws ?)

or

Something else entirely ?

(It's really which is funnier, Villa getting relegated or Leeds not getting promoted)

I was listening to a podcast discussing the situation in Italy and came to the conclusion that the most viable and sensible option would be to write of the season and start fresh next year.

Any other system will be way too unfair.

Void has to be the easiest solution. No other solution is going to be any more workable. Harsh on Liverpool and teams in promotion positions but relegating teams in the current bottom three is equally as harsh.

Anything else will be a huge fudge, imo

Just hope whoever has the final decision isn’t a Leeds fan :lolol:

As an Albion fans forum I am 100% certain that the void option will win by a landslide. I wonder if Leeds have a similar poll because you can guarantee that they will not be voting for void!

- suspend season until further notice
- move Euros to next summer
- use time where Euros would be to clear backlog
- set a date where if the situation is prolonged and the season cannot be completed in the extension then null and void season no promotions or relegations

Suspend the current season then complete it when conditions permit. Seems little point in setting in stone a new season without finishing this one first. Wasn't there something about European leagues having to realign to fit in with the timing of the Qatar World Cup anyway? If so, then this might actually be helpful, albeit for all the wrong reasons

Expect that it'll probably be;
Suspend it now
Suspend it again it a few weeks
Be all ready to start again and someone else tests positive so suspend it again
Finally void the whole season off
Start 20/21 Season with all teams in same leagues they were

Think this is probably the most likely scenario...!

payments are made based on league position, so i dont think they can simply void. just hold the league as it is, no relegation or promotion. teams aggrieved would be those on 28 games, only really for Sheffield United is a meaningful impact (5th place), so maybe balls out of hat for those games?

End season now, give Liverpool the title
No relegation
Promote Leeds and WBA
Next season, 3 relegated and team in 17th goes into playoffs with 3,4 & 5th in the Championship, same again the following season to get back to 20

Alternative is to suspend the season, but problem with that is no-one has any idea when it’ll be able to start up again

In Spain, La Liga has a proper constitution which allows for "force majeure". If an accord cannot be reached with the clubs, the league committee can dictate what happens next. They are apparently looking at four scenarios.

1. If Euro 2020 is postponed, continue the league in the summer. It's going to be a hot one!
2. Finish the league after game 27, the last game that everyone has played. Barcelona champions.
3. Finish the league after game 19, the halfway point, when everyone has played each other once. Barcelona champions.
4. Scrap it and start again next season.

There seem to be growing calls that option 3 is preferred as everyone would have played everyone once. In our case that means that Spurs away would be voided and the points against Bournemouth would count!

I can't see any point of saying we'll pause the season for 2 or even 4 weeks - what good will that do? The virus will still be around in a month, 2 months, 6 months. Suspect the season will just have to be stopped and this season sadly be written off for everybody. Can't see what a delay will achieve. In a month's time some other player or players will pick it up so do we then delay again?

There is talk of the peak being 14 weeks away, ie mid/late June.

If that is only the peak of the virus, I can see it still being a problem at the start of next season, so any talk of postponing and restarting this season is, I think, completely pointless
