It’s not me that needs to google if I want to learn a bit more, it’s you.

Are you honestly suggesting that both his company’s profits and those of his high spending clients aren’t made on the back of those who bet and are either poor or stupid?

So you tell me how Bloom and his customers make money out of gambling if the poor and ignorant don’t place bets?

I’m all ears.

Nice caveat, somewhat bizarre but nevertheless I guess you're rather kicking yourself for not opening up with that.

If you’re adopting that stance, a city fund manager is exploiting cheap labour in the Philippines. Bloom’s company second-guesses betting firm odds.

Chances are they'll be some whataboutery very soon.

What caveat?

The fact that Tony Bloom seems now to be responsible for how his wealthy clients made their money, once you realised that he's not some high street/internet spiv.

Are you calling bookmakers poor and ignorant?

Gambling can destroy lives, but many people do (sorry to use the phrase) gamble responsibly. Much like alcohol can destroy lives, but many of us can enjoy a drink without it being a problem. I don't think the same is true of tobacco - that's always bad.

I'm not against gambling, but have seen the effect on poor relatives and some fellow Albion fans, wiped out, time and time again from their trips to the bookies or casinos. One lost overnight the entire five figure sum saved up over many years for his daughter's wedding.

It's an area where Nanny State is needed, to make it far harder to blow money quickly. A very sensible move the other week to reduce stakes for fixed odds betting machines, which received cross party support. If tobacco advertising restrictions were seen as beneficial, perhaps the same for betting? Giving less exposure to naive youngsters.

I rarely gamble, purely out of laziness in getting round to it. I'm glad that industries such as horse and dog racing survive.

How is beating the bookies wrong ?

Nothing at all, it’s a skill that I haven’t got.

My point was that, any business that makes money on the back of gambling, is morally questionable.

It doesn’t matter how far up the gambling ladder anyone operates, the profit all comes from those at the very bottom of that ladder. They are the only party who actually put new money into the system.

How can you argue that point?

How can you completely miss the point of StarLizard?

I was under the impression that Starlizard made it's money primarily through spread betting on a variety of sporting events with wagers easily in excess of £50k. Not exactly taking money off the poor & stupid!

Once again, I’ve never suggested he is.

As it happens, I think he has adopted a new and unique approach to the analysis of statistics, which appears to be reaping significant rewards in both the gambling and football markets.

It’s a simple point that you are all ignoring.

Let me put it another way, there are loads of companies making huge profits from gambling.

Who are their customers?

That's getting silly.

Perhaps other sponsors such as Amex and Standard Chartered thrive in charges from some customers defaulting (not to the extent of a bad debt), or the latter in lending to a non ethical imperfect company. What are the human rights records of the owners of Etihad and Emirates?

Some more poignant issues there, over a wild guess on how TB's gaming clients might run their businesses.
