If suspended for 46 days or more the season is nulled

If all 20 clubs have signed up to that, I'd imagine a legal challenge would be... well, a challenge. Hope the EFL's rules align - would be awkward if Leeds end up with the 'right' to be promoted but nobody gets relegated.

Suspend it. Finish the season at some later point. If necessary, scrap the entire 2020/21 season to allow 2019/20 to finish. Set up friendly tournaments instead if things are getting back to normal. Then start over 2021/22.

What? and leave Jug earred Gary without a job!

Really? I've not heard that anywhere else. Do you have a source? Not doubting you – just curious.

No legal challenges would succeed and the clubs know that. The football authorities will be taking action on the advice of the government, so in effect any legal action would be against the UK government. Not only that but the football authorities will have included 'force majeure' clauses that allow for them to cancel all or part of a season.
Also, there's no way any legal process would progress fast enough to allow even next season to start. Once a decision is made it'll be final IMO.

The legal challenge wouldn't be against the early ending of the season though. The issue is how the EFL and PL decide that is finalised (ie do current positions stand, or do we declare it all null and void and start again next season?).

If you said all current positions stand, then you could have a scenario where a club is relegated by virtue of being in the bottom three, one point behind the team above, but with a game in hand. How can you relegate (or fail to promote) a team who has played fewer games than others? Tranmere are currently occupying a relegation spot in League One, three points behind the team above but with a game in hand. Is it fair to say to them "sorry lads, you're down"? Or one team might still have to play all of the top six, while another has a mix of opponents in mid table and below.

If the season gets written off midway through, it has to be declared null and void, and everyone starts again in the same league come August (or whenever it's deemed safe).

I'm not just saying this because Liverpool and Leeds, honestly

Games in hand could still go ahead behind closed doors if deemed safe. There would only be two in the EPL as things stand.

UEFA called meeting for Tuesday to discuss the situation....

In the light of the ongoing developments in the spread of COVID-19 across Europe and the changing analysis of the World Health Organisation, UEFA has today invited representatives of its 55 member associations, together with the boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues and a representative of FIFPro, to attend meetings by videoconference on Tuesday 17 March to discuss European football’s response to the outbreak.

Discussions will include all domestic and European competitions, including UEFA EURO 2020.

Further communication will be made following those meetings.

Just let the Football Manager guys code the rest of the season and take that as the season. Can live stream their matches online too.

This is all so silly. If one team have someone that tests CV positive, the whole team will have to self isolate. There is no point planning to play behind closed doors. Best suspend the league and give themselves time to monitor the situation over the coming weeks.

Scotland looking to cancel gatherings of more than 500 from next week

Surely our lot will have to be on the same path now?

I don't understand why they are waiting until next week...surely if they think there's a problem (and they obviously do) then the ban needs to start immediately?

Or just deem all remaining games as draws (that's what they did in the rugby WC when they couldn't complete)

If they was a special meeting of the PL, would there be enough votes just to void the season now ?

I suspect there would be. Only Liverpool and maybe Sheffield United wouldn't be that keen, and a few teams pretty neutral.
