Ward and speroni have signed new contracts . Has the storm started ?

Things so bad that you are now re signing released players as you can’t entice better players?. No alarm bells for Dougie then.....or was it part of the master plan to save a months wages on a couple of players?

Speroni

He has played for 2 palace's.
Been 'owned' by at least 3 different board of directors
He's played under 13 (thirteen) different managers.

Yet he's a one club man.

The Albion have at least 5 keepers better than him, palace fans must not know whether to  or

There seems to be some concern over there that their wage bill is 80% of their turnover (which is the highest % in the division), and is also the highest overall outside of the top 6 clubs. This is nice as well: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...league-rivals-warns-roy-hodgson-a3889131.html

Hodgson: "We are not in a situation like many Premier League clubs where we have a pot of gold to throw around to buy players. The club has spent a lot of money on transfers and are still paying for a lot of those going into the next seasons (note - plural). Unfortunately it has taken a large chunk out of any money that will be available to spend. We have not been able to strengthen as much as we would have liked. We have not got a lot of money to spend on players, so that will make it a bit difficult".

So as they enter their sixth season wallowing in the copious cash of the Premier League, they have the highest wagebill outside of the top 6, the highest wages-to-turnover, have invested £149.99 at B&Q in their infrastructure, and now seemingly do not have a pot to piss in.

What a way to run a football club. Lovely stuff.

There is a Palace fan who regularly posts on the Huddersfield forum...recently he has been bemoaning Palace's lack of cash and suggests they would be better served selling Zaha and bringing in 3/4 decent players with the proceeds. Zaha has been quite lucky to avoid serious injury so far - if he was out for 10 or more games, the consequences might be quite bad for CPFC.

Edited for controversy...

That is an excellent presentation, doesn't take the micky but is clear and informative and really easy to understand

TIFO are always superb and I believe that the finances are done by Brighton fan Kieran Maguire who lectures at Liverpool Uni.

The thing is, selling off the crown jewels doesn't guarantee that the proceeds would be spent wisely - look what happened to Spurs after they binned off Bale and trousered £85m. That summer they brought in Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue, Chiriches, Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela. Only Eriksen out of that lot turned out to be decent, although Lamela has improved. Most of those proceeds were pissed away on bang-average to poor players though.

Even in the current market, CPFC2010 wouldn't get anywhere NEAR £85m for the gravity whore, not even half that. So they're probably best keeping hold of their one-man team, because without him, they have little chance of surviving in the PL. Thats obvious to everyone, and their results bear that fact out.

A Palace fan living in the real world? Whatever next? Wonder if we could get him here and transfer the idiot Dougie to the Hudds forums. The lame, deluded numpty has been stinking this place out for way too long.

A new stand at Palace won’t necessarily solve the problem. They will have to ensure that many of the extra seats go to hospitality customers.

If 10,000 extra seats are sold to regular fans at (say) £500 a pop (and remember West Ham have theirs starting at £299) then this works out at £4.2 million a year in extra income after deducting VAT.

The estimated costs of the expansion are £75-£100 million. Even at the lower threshold, borrowing this at 5% pa works out at £3.75m a year in interest costs. If it’s £100m then £5m a year.

Parish might look enviously at the obscene prices being charged by Daniel Levy to watch Spurs in their new stadium, but Palace, like the Albion, operate in a different market to the elite clubs.

But what if your business plan is to build a new stand, then go bust again so you never need to pay for it ......

The question still stands as to why the redevelopment of one stand will cost up to £100m? You'd have thought that they could knock the whole wreck down and start again for not too much more.

It all looks like a massive con to keep the fans happy in the short term when in reality nothing will actually happen. Not that I'm saying that Disney is a dodgy, lying spiv or anything.*

That's my take on it. It's all to appease the Nigels. I read somewhere that the project will still go ahead if relegated. Yeah right
