Yes, that makes a lot of sense. Do what's needed for validation in their 2 rivalries against City and Liverpool, then get turned over by the rest.

I’ve said the same about the Albion this season. We’ve looked very competent against the top sides and utter garbage against the lower sides.

Absolutely this. The number of times I'm thinking "roll the ball out fast to start the counter" and he...doesn't do that. Waits ages while nobody takes the "studs on the ball" bait, then either hoofs it to the opposition, or taps a short pass to a CB who promptly gives it straight back.
