So Arsenal are 17/20 odds on to beat us. Fair enough. But I've just seen that Newcastle are also 17/20 odds on to win away at Spurs. WTF?

Spurs have been eating lasagna again.

Edit: apparently it worked

Edit again: maybe not

There will be a lot of talk about the Newcastle equaliser and the potential handball, personally think it was fair enough

I'm not sure about that Newcastle goal. Of course, it's an accidental handball but the advantage they gained seems unfair
I get confused about what the latest version of the rule is.

If the rule is that if your hand/arm is in a natural position - which it clearly was in this case - then it's not handball, then fair enough ... it's a goal.

But I thought there was a rule about if that scenario happens that leads to a goal - in which case it should be disallowed. I guess that's no longer the rule right now.

Just every so often I wish Bart would try and release us on a quick break like that, instead of waiting for everyone to reset and gently rolling it to Dunk / van Hecke

I think they make it up as they go along.

The rule was changed a couple of seasons ago that if it was accidental handball by the goal scorer then the goal would be disallowed. If it's accidental handball by another player in the build up to the goal then the goal is given.

From Ifab (https://www.theifab.com/news/annual-general-meeting-2021/)

Accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence.

That makes sense ... but then why was the handball against Burn given

Obviously - the ref has just given a handball against Burn, which was identical (in terms of accidental/normal position) - but this time it’s an infringement.

That rule about leading to a goal, is only if it's by the goal scorer (with no other passes).

EDIT - I see this had been covered
