260k a month = £60k a week. Seems a bit daft for a player to accept such a low salary for a club as rich as Chelsea, for 8 years. With inflation he'll be on very little in a few years.

That might even be below the average PL wage for people 22 and above

He'd just turned 22 when he signed and only played 2 seasons of top flight football. Did nothing of note in his debut season for Villareal. Scored a few goals last year but nothing to put him in the mega money bracket.

If he genuinely thought he wasn't good enough for Chelsea, then the salary for him makes sense. If he thinks he's good enough, he's mad.

I'm now somewhat fearful for our game.

Of the games I've watched the referees have been decent and var has been used efficiently - that ain't gonna last and we're playing Spurs.
